Sunday seems never to be the first day.

Correct - it's Sunday - although I was asking about the months. Two months each begin on all the other days of the week, but because of how the days not associated with months (or weekdays) fall, none of them ever hits a Sunday.

If you didn't pick up on it yet, those orderly little Hobbits have a calendar where every single date is always the same day of the week, every year.
