Oh, for her it doesn't sound like something that will rule her life at least. That's good

Hey, so I guess it's pretty obvious I'm new, so I'll introduce myself. I'm Aiden, not my real name, real name is Lindsey but online I use Aiden, so you're welcome to call me that. I'm 25 years old and I'm from the UK, I've not actually read all the books, only got quarter of the way through FOTR and stopped, slow reader and I'm dyslexic as well and old books I tend to sometimes have trouble reading and understanding. But I do plan to read them, when I've finished Game of Thrones, currently on the first one of that, nearly finished.

I do love reading, it just takes me a long time to read. But one of my favourite books is The Picture of Dorian Grey, I've read that about 6 times and it took me about 4 days to read. I love it. I also love writing as well and would love to be a writer but I don't think I'd be any good, I'm currently a care assistant in a residential home for the elderly but my dream job is to be an administrator in the Army.

I watch quite a bit of tv and have a few shows I really like. Some aren't on anymore and some are but I love them.

CSI NY, Supernatural, Spooks, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, The Dead Zone, Lie To Me, Warehouse 13, Silent Witness, The Vampire Diaries, Sanctuary, White Collar, Numb3rs, Hustle, Lewis, SVU, Stargate - SG.1, SGA, SGU, Bones, Burn Notice, Leverage, Primeval (actually met one of the actors, the one who plays Becker, he's really nice) and a load of other shows.

Hi Stefan/Aiden.
Welcome.

Question though: couldn't you 'read' the Lord of the Rings as an audiobook? My dyslexic students often feel quite relieved when I tell them they can listen to a book instead of reading it (though not all of them do. Some consider it lame or don't like the storytellers).

I thought it prudent to stop in and introduce myself, I am known by many names, Alphonse among the Elves, men name me Radagast and Uriah according to my reinment. I am Istari, always curious and observant of the manners and customs of those who dwell in Middle earth...

Yeah.. audiobooks are great sometimes. My husband likes this one version of the Silmarillion being read because the narrator has an "epic" voice, as he calls it.

At other times... it can be kind of awful.

Hello everyone, hope all is well with you!
Been away for a while, it looks like I haven't posted here since June. Real life distracted me from mooting, heh, I guess getting a proper job can do that to you

I watched the trailer for The Hobbit and got this insuperable urge to become an active member of this board again! That, and I miss you people

So it took 13 bearded dwarves for you to miss us. I'm not sure if that's a compliment...

Also, proper job? *insert obligatory joke about men being unable to multitask*

*glomps Jonathan*

13 bearded dwarves and a bearded wizard, mind you!
And yes, the frog-like appearance of Gollum immediately made me wonder what Eärniel's up to these days

Thanks guys

Ah well, 13 bearded dwarves and a bearded wizard, now that makes perfect sense.

As for what I'm doing these days, as it happens -in between all the negative stuff from the venting thread- I have in fact been busy going all "my preciouss, all mine, my own" over this new glorious book Frogs of North America a friend gave me. It even has a CD with sounds. I have seen that the companion book Frogs of South America (also with CD) is available at the local conservation organisation's bookstore, so that will soon be my preciouss too...

gollum, gollum...

*waves* Hello to you returning and newbies...I just decided to swing through and say hullo. It's been a while.

Probably won't hang around for too long, but I thought I'd let you all know that I'm still alive and kickin'.
