I'm not certain he said this, but I thought it mentioned that "Elvish singing wasn't a thing to miss", or something along those lines.

So far, the closest guess was when Valandil said it was too loud.

One clue:
Bilbo heard the "lullaby" I'm talking about when he passed through Rivendell on his way home.

"'I would,' said Faramir. And he took her in his arms and kissed her under the sunlit sky, and he cared not that they stood high upon the walls in the sight of many. And many indeed saw them and the light that shone about them as they came down from the walls and went hand in hand to the Houses of Healing."

Thanks... yeah, I had remembered it was on his way home. Seems like he slept in real late - until they woke him up and he opened his window and joked around with them (and didn't they joke back about his snoring?)

Did he say something like that their singing would actually wake people up?

Oh, right... Valandil, I tyhink you're right. Now I remember... he said their singing can wake up a sleeping man and they said his snoring can wake up a sleeping stone dragon, or something like that.

What did Bilbo steal from Smaug when he first went into the 'cave' and saw the treasure?
