proof # 1: In the episode where bart and homer go to the super bowl, lisa and marge make egg people the feet are missing marge gives the people the adress so they can mail her new ones and just when she is about to say the state maude walks in and she says OH,hiya maude!

proof #2: in the episode when marge gets sugar banned from springfield they say to homer "we need you to help us smuggle sugar from south of the border" and homer says"you mean Tennessee?" and then they say"SHHH! no!!! Island.......

and it goes on from there!

they never acually say it but the clues are there!!

trick question - all of our answers were valid, i think.

since they never actually say it, you can't really know. Other episodes may give clues that it is in another state (cant think of any specifics now)

you just think it is in ohio, as the rest of us thought that Springfield was in a different state.

Not that big a deal though.

Tennessee is south of Kentucky.

There is a desert on the edge of town. (Tomacco, Mafia meets Marge during pretzel business episode, etc)

The harbor is a sea port (porpoises in Halloween episode)

There are large mountains near by. (Homer mountain climbing on power bars)

The episode win which the family vacations in Florida and stuns the alligator tell which states they are banned from vacationing. There is only one. Is this the state they live in because they aren't banned?

Springfield is just Anytown, USA
