I do hope you are not playing another of your Orkish pranks and given us a trick question, master Blackheart. Nonetheless, I will endeavor to answer.

5 Hobbits are mentioned by name:

1. Bilbo
2. Belladonna Took, aka Mrs. Bungo Baggins
3. Bungo Baggins
4. Old Took
5. Bullroarer (Old Took’s great granduncle)

The Sackville-Bagginses are mentioned as a group but none individually by name, so they don’t count.

That appears to be all of them.....

I won't be tricksey, and say Gollum, because he's not actually mentioned by his name "Smeagol".

Thank you, Blackheart. Very gracious for a thug.

Gollum was not a Hobbit anyway. His race of fisherfolk were "the grandfathers of the grandfathers of the Stoors." A distant relation I'd say.

I will think of a question shortly.

Oh mister Blackheart, we must remember our table manners, now, mustn't we? No drooling. By the way, pass the Tabasco, please.

Anyway, with regards to your reply, Thorin tells us where the great dragons bred, but I'm afraid it's not the northern wastes.

So sorry. Guess again.

Well the wastes beyond the Grey Mountains are often called the Northern wastes, which lie in Forodwaith.

Didn't he say the Grey mountains?

Correct, oh flower of springtime.

Said Thorin at the unexpected party:

Your turn.

What kind of wine was the wood elves drinking that allowed the dwarves and Bilbo to escape? (In other words, where did it come from?)

Bah! withered heath=northern wastes.

It's like saying king Bladorthin was from Dorwinnion, where they make all that heady wine that gets butlers and turnkeys to fall asleep.

I don't think they are quite the same. I was looking for something more specific, but truth be told I should have said you were close. Since I answered azalea's question, I yield will to you, Blackheart. Ask away.

Nah- go ahead, I can't think of anything right now.

The voices in my head are all quiet.

It's weird, like something's going to happen....

Thank you, Mr. Blackheart.

Being the old hobbit that I am, I am fond of gardening, cooking, and eating (not necessarily in that order). So the next question is very dear to my heart but might be a bit of a challenge to answer:

Name three herbs mentioned in the Hobbit.

Hint: Tobacco is not an herb. These herbs can be found in any respectable hobbit or human pantry.

You got 2 Master Blackheart, very good.

The leaves of the Eurasian wood sorrel O. acetosella can be used as a potherb, so yes, that is one.

thyme is another.

Pipeweed is not an herb, and its not in the Hobbit.

The answer requires one more herb. There are at least two more in the book. Keep trying.
