The Lord of the Rings HISHE... One minute...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yqVD0swvWU Everyone on this board should watch it once. I referenced it when I said I was glad we didn't have to get rid of the Guardian ourselves...

That's awesome. Loved the inclusion of Gollum! Thanks for sharing, Midge!

Well, she could remember that the White Witch looked human, though she had not a drop of human blood in her. I think that would be a canon reference for her.

Good point. That would be part of the lore about the Golden Age.
And Nightshade is something of a loremaster - she makes sure that the next generations (of badgers, at least) get to hear the old tales.

Varna - just checking to make sure you didn't miss that Rivailen wants Baru's attention a little way up.
(If you did see it, but just want to concentrate on Nightshade for a little while first before Baru replies, that's alright - I just wanted to make sure it didn't get overlooked on account of all the surrounding explanation of urban life ) On another note, I hate that I have so little time for reading lately, but I'm halfway through Perelandra and I have to say that Lewis has such a talent for describing alien worlds and making them seem properly alien. I felt dizzy just reading parts of it. (and anyone who has read may know why )

A couple of things: I assumed that it would make sense for Aerin to know the story of Ilúvatar because a) she's an elf, and b) she grew up in Lothlórien, where Galadriel reigned, and she'd lived in Valinor with the Valar for many years, so it follows that she would know this story, and would tell it to her subjects, yes? If this is incorrect, I should probably revise my post, so let me know.
The other thing is that I think I'm going to start introducing Lur and Lantie to the thread again, slowly. I may have only saved the story for them at work, though. I'm trying to find it now.

I quite agree that Aerin would have heard the Ainulindalë and the Valaquenta, and probably even the Quenta Silmarillion, in Lothlorien. Even though Galadriel isn't known as as much of a loremaster as Elrond, I believe she still would do the basics.

Yeah... maybe I'll have her direct Nightshade to a book Elrond is writing called "Silmarillion" if she wants to hear the whole story.

Has written, you mean. He has left now. And Bilbo translated it into Westron. When they meet Baru, she will tell them that she has read it in Elrond's library

Write, right...
Unless you want a little more interaction, you can have Nightshade and Aerin "pulling into town" in your post. I figured when Aerin said "a short while longer" she meant maybe a half hour... ish.

I think I want to confuse Aerin a little, which may want her to ask what on earth Nightshade is talking about ...
and then be able to talk a little more ... We're travelling today, so I'm posting from my Nokia, so long posts aren't easy to write. Edit: Aika - I haven't forgotten Rivailen asking Baru to approach the others. And there's no point in A & N stopping talking too soon - they are on different days now and will have to wait anyway. They cannot arrive at the inn yet. They may as well go on talking.

okay. I can change it to where Aerin and Nightshade aren't as close to town.

And I think I'll post for Baru first (some time today, hopefully), while you can post for your Perelandrians

Oh, yeah. I'm not sure exactly when Earn will get back, so I'm in no rush for the Perelandrians. Besides, I was really excited so mostly it's copy and paste for them for a while.

Sorry I haven't been around much this week, work's been a little busy. Yay for the Perelandrians returning!
Of course, Aragorn and Arwen were not actually children at the same time, so Ashkaio's sense of unease about that is a little misdirected. However, trying to explain that situation to someone who has never heard of Elves will be...interesting.
