When Gandalf sent Bilbo and the dwarves into Mirkwood, there was something he did not know about that path - which he found out while down south and it caused him great concern.

What was it?

Nope - he pretty well knew that. That's why he went south to meet with the White Council and drive him out... but we don't know that from "The Hobbit" anyway. There was something he found out while he was down there... and that IS in "The Hobbit"

That the end of the path was blocked, and there was no way to the edge of the forest except the river, which the elves controlled.

Good enough for me... wasn't exactly blocked - I think it just became less distinct until it was no more - and you're right, one pretty much had to follow the river to get out the east end of it.

Your go!

I thought I had posted a question earlier, but apparently it didn't work.

Why did Bilbo forget that he had invited Gandalf to tea?

Sorry, I was on vacation and the one time I got on a computer, it didn't work.

You're both right. It's Elvengirl's turn.

Ok, I ask a question (a week passed):

What Fili didn't want to smell anymore after the dwarves and Bilbo escaped from the elves?

Sorry if this question has been asked; if it has I'll think of a new one.

What sickness fell upon the old Master after the Battle of the Five Armies?
