Hi Mari! Indeed I have been away a long time. Pretty good - I live at my mom's since she is getting on her years and we have a shared household - thinking it is no use me living in the town and she living out in the countryside. I have had a few jobs - but nothing really came of them. So now Im governmentsponsored unemployement project which has been going on for a year and a half. We'll see if it leads to any job that fits me.

How are you and how's life treating you?

Got married last year, but still work at a school as an English teacher.

Sounds great! Congratulations on getting hitched! That is a worthy and necessary occupation in this day and age.

*chuckles* Oh, you don't know... there are people discussing replacing teachers with robots. Seriously.

Indeed robots are supposed to supplant man in all things. Wonder what we'll all do when we are out of a job.

Go on a holiday. Wait until people realise that teaching is not the same as transferring knowledge. Wait until they give me a raise before I actually decide to go back and teach.

if they dont need humans as teachers they wont need humans to be taught. Begetting children will be unnecessary because we are all made redundant. Of course the rich will continue to live the high life.

And the robots will do the services for them. Until the robots become so intelligent that they decide to revolt.

Indeed that is true - AI will be bane of mankind. Skynet just around the corner.

Then again, if the height of AI is chatbots trying to sell oneanother some services and not getting anything else done we might yet survive...

We might. But the rationalization-fanatics wants to do away the need for humans alltogether. And in the end themselves.

Ah, rationalisation, so often used by people who think their logic is inescapably correct when it often isn't.

Robots would very soon discover utter boredom when humans are gone.

Where are the others who frequented the site? Have they all abandoned it? Its true that I havent been here for several years. but Im still in at a conundrum about the peace that reigns here.

About almost everybody has drifted away, yes. It's been very quiet the last few years. The Hobbit movies failed to ignite interest again and I suppose people's lives got busy and their interests changed.
