It seems it always goes like that, doesn't it? I think I have heard that almost exact quote from three different people who bought themselves a new place. There's always something big that comes up and has to be tackled before moving in.

Having to rewire a house is deeply unfun (my parents did that partially and now wish they had pushed through and done the whole house back then) but once it's done, it's rewarding to think you don't have to better with the stuff again until maybe 30 years in the future.

Indeed and it gave me my stucko walls. I thought the existing walls were hideous, but my boyfriend said he didn't want to fix it now, so maybe in the future.
Waiting with renovations will only make sure it never happens though, so I'm glad we had to rewire. Because of that we had no choice but to renovate the walls as well.

I spent most of April being sick with random virusses and infections that really sapped my energy and meant I didn't get up to much apart from work. Blergh.

And so April passed. Almost the end of the school year. I love my life, but it is hectic sometimes.
I'm glad you're feeling better Earn, but how is it possible you're getting ill so often?

We've been having my sisters' kids a lot more over lately than we usually do. That way Sis and partner can work in their new house without three little attention seekers.

They're adorable, really, but apparently also often infectious. (As a teacher, this may sound familiar.) Every single time the kids visited me in April, it seemed they left me with some cold, virus, or other. And my old nemesis, the weird allergy, poked its ugly head up again too. Dunno what caused it but I spent a week with itchy bumps all over my hands. Doesn't do wonders for productivity of any kind, let me tell you that.

But, hout vasthouden, I seem to have weathered it for now.

Itchy bumps on your hands: have you been working with biotex perhaps? It gave me horrible bumps and it took quite a while for them to go away. I think in my case it was the biotex I used to get the wallpaper off the walls.

No, but I had been gardening so a plant probably was the culprit. There's one I suspect, but it's a plant that I have been around for years so I'm weary but not quite convinced. Then again, my allergies have been changing since last year so it's tricky to determine what they all are right now. I mean, I could try handling the plant to see if it gives me an allergic reaction. But the itch was so, so bad, I'm not looking forward to experimenting quite as quickly.

But it's crazy, the moment an allergy pokes its head up, there are so many substances you will have touched and there only need to be one that gives you bumps.

Oh, that's annoying! The good news is that another annoying allergy may disappear, but not knowing what you get in return sucks.

I have been trying to learn about setting up web hosting lately. I've always known about website creation (like HTML/CSS) but never been able to figure out about the back end set up. So that's exciting.

I joined IRC. I feel like that is a rite of passage for techie peeps.
