The name of the tree from which Frodo and Sam's walking-staves [given to them by Faramir] were made.

I think it was 90 leagues, give or take a furlong.

It was 45 leagues. I think I got the 90 from doing a conversion to miles from some sorce or other(though the conversion varies - 3 miles per is also used).

ok. What was the name of the leader of the Uruk Hai that captured Pippin and Merry? Very easy one. I didn't have much time to look for a hard question.

Hi Radagast!

This is the book forum, right? So you can't be talking about the Uruk Hai that captured Merry and Pip (cuz in the book he doesn't have a name, although in the movie his name is Lurtz). You must mean Grishnakh (or however you spell his name), right?

Actually, Uruk-hai refers to them in general; Uruk is singular.

And the Uruk did have a name; he was Ugluk. My brother's favourite character. He's rather obsessed with orcs, trolls, and various other evil creatures.

Grishnakh was a uruk in the strictest sense of the word (as it literally means Orc), but not in the sense it is commonly used, that is the great, soldier-orcs bred by Sauron. He was an Orc of Mordor, I believe.

Yes Radagast.

GW, thanks for the correction. I had forgotten about Ugluk! And I was just wondering about Grishnakh being a true Uruk Hai.
