Yeah, I think its nice to be called a name you picked out/chose yourself. Some cultures dont name their children until the child does or chooses something themselves.

One of our computers is named Dave (after 2001 spacy oddessy) The printer is called neuro since it's an old one and he can't print a euro-sign. Our external modem is called garthim (after the dark crystal) because of the shape and the to lights on the front. I'm thinking on naming my zip-discs something Tolkienish, but I haven't come upwith something suitable.

Actually, I could not print here what I normally call my computer.

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." Strider

I think Samwise would make a cool middle name and my friend Willis thinks Glóin would make a nice first name . He named some one in the story we're writing together that. He was some one's kid. I let him name him because he invented the kid's dad.

Elessar would make an ausome name now that I think of it. My son would hate me though... You could name your kid TOm and not tell him you expect him to turn out like Bombadil!

Coming to it, my middle name is Rose and my brother's name is Tom, and my mum is a HUGE LotR fan... she says she named him after Tom Seleck (I know I didn't spell that right!) and me because my cheeks were all red when I was born, but I duuno know! I'll have to ask her later.

Oh thank you!

Say, I started a thread earlier about this little contest I'm having. The thread is titled "Half Elves" if you want to take a look. You might be able to help me, I don't know.

I think I'll name my kid something from The Silmarillion, which they won't even read if they turn out *gasp* not to be a Tolkien fan. If they are a fan, however, they'll be ecstatic.

Any one who knows the Silmarillion...
I'd have seven sons and make them call me Feanor.
They would be Maehdros, Maglor, Curufin, Celegorm, Caranthir, Amrod and Amras.

Ok maybe not, how bout seven sons seven daughters named after the Valar.

If I ever had a son (I'm never having kids...)
and if my surname was Black
I would name my son....
Ancalagon
His middle name would obviously be The. Obviously.

I have 2 sons, neither of whom are named after Tolkien characters, but one is nicknamed Fatty Lumpkin (Tom Bom's horse), because he's 11 months old and very round.
