Huh? What in the world does that mean? What book do you think I've read?

I declare, you have the funniest/oddest views of me!

(at least she doesn't divine my evil plots - she just thinks I'm weird!)

(not that she isn't right ....)

on "irregardless" - funny, I've used that word too (it's in my dictionary, too) but when I think about it, it should just be "regardless". Kinda like that expression that is so common, "I could care less!", which is really the opposite of what you mean! ("I COULDN'T care less!") My dict. says it's a "humorous redundancy for regardless".

Now we have a new way to irritate BOP!

Technically irregardless is a word but it's outdated. And it sounds dumb.

Welcome to the Department of the Redundancy Department.

Thank you for answering! And I"m very glad to hear you think I give people a fair listen. I really try to do that. People and their ideas are important to me, and I think they deserve a fair listen.

You refered to a book called "Surprised by Joy" when you asked me similar questions. So....why do you ask those rather sappy type questions?

No it's not. It's never been a word (in the 'standard' dictionary recognised sense). It comes from a mangling of regardless, and "irrespective".

I'm pretty sure it was Inky who referred to Surprised by Joy, altho I've read it too, and I wouldn't call it sappy! But that's another rabbit trail ...
