The one ring, perhaps?

sam and frodo would be the friends who weant through nightmare, and the mountain you mention would be mount doom.

Am I right?

Ok, you've got me!
So please can we have some guidance ? 'The mountains end'? is this the End of the mountains physically ie. End of the range or chronologically, ie. Before it explodes (eg Mt Doom) ?

Go on, be nice.....

Nope. "The mountains end" should be "the mountain's end" and it means "the other side of the mountain"

Here's a riddle for y'all...

An artifact from another age,
the most ancient work of man.
A silver treasure of royal measure
kept safe in Elrond's hand.

Keith K, is yours the Ellesar?

Any really ancient riddlers will remember my second riddle ever, having that subject, which took them weeks to get... *fond memories*

Wasn't it TC who finally got it right? I'm going to go dig it up and post it, for everyones benefit.

This is my ancient riddle:

An eagle soaring through the skies
Carrying destiny upon it's wings
Swiftly in silver it flies
As the crown it flings

The answer was the eagle pin Galadriel gave to Aragorn.

THIS ONE IS NOT FOR GUESSING! It is an artifact from the early days of riddling.

Yeah, I think I was the one to get that, narrowly beating someone else out...after many, many, many hints (and hint alarms being thrown out the window....ahhh, nostalgia ).

*more fond memories* Those were the days... Are we the only riddlers from that era left, TC? *sigh*

As for mine, Caradhras is so close that I could just give it to you... but no, I'll be mean!
