SHARING THIS QUOTE REGARDING THE TWO TOWERS LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR PETER JACKSON:
Hi Everyone! We wanted to say thank you so much for your signature and to update you all with what has been happening with the Letter of Support for The Two Towers. We have had wonderful response so far to this idea and have been receiving all kinds of information, from very creditable sources, regarding the production and marketing of this film. The general consensus is that this is NOT an issue that has been decided as yet. There is talk among the movie executives about a 4hr vs. a 3hr movie and its being reported that there is over 10hrs of usable film from Helms Deep alone - WOW! There are reports that some movie decision makers are nervous of not making as much with a 4hour version, we've also heard that some think the 4hr version would bring in more Oscars, which means more money! Also word of a possible split, a 3hr and a 4hr version running at same theaters on different screens is making the rounds. So while we don't know what the final decision may be we want to get the word out about the letter of support. Support for New Line but especially Peter Jackson being able to create the best movie possible no matter the running time. If you want and can help, please get out the message to as many as you can to sign the support letter, if you wish please feel free to use the attachment below. Remember the key word here is Support! Thank you all again for your signatures, AND Here's to a wonderful movie! And please remember, the site will only be up through 8-18! Thanks and happy viewing! www.dodgeandassociates.com/bqlotr

Well, I guess I would put a caveat on endorsing a longer version. It shouldn't be longer just to add more battle footage. If it supports the missing plot aspects, I'm all for it.

Agreed. As much as I enjoy plowing through Helms deep, etc, I am already deeply disturbed by the proposed changes.
I just had a thought - I'm re-reading LOTR again, and I just came to the bit with the window on the west, and there's this really cute scene with Sam being served by a servant, and he grabs the water bowl and douches his whole head in there. I hope they put that in. Every time I read this scene, I crack up laughing.

Four hours seems a long time to watch a movie at the cinema, I hope they have a intermission. I remember they used to. I hope there arn't too many battle scenes. I want CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, which was not in the FOTR.

Well to be fair, Cass, there wasn't really any character development in the book either. It wasn't until the fellowship split up and went their separate ways (TTT onwards), that Tolkien was better able to express their personalities. And it *is* hard to develop characters, when there is a large group.

Oh my god, BoP is defending Peter Jackson *faints*
I suppose I am complaining that there were lots of battle scenes and not much "quiet" scenes in FOTR. I hope the extra half an hour will satisfy me. And I will probably watch the FOTR tonight, cause I havn't seen it in 6 days (yes it's been agony). Don't get me wrong, I would love the TT (and FOTR and ROTK) be 4 hours long.
