OH MY GOD YOU GUYS! OH MY GOD OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOGMOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Cynthia Lawrence was FREAKING INCREDIBLE. Oh my sweet Lord, I have never, EVER heard singing like that live. Her voice is BIG AS A HOUSE, and she is SO musically intelligent, and OMG OMG OMG she was freaking INCREDIBLE.

Then I GOT HER AUTOGRAPH.

So my life is complete, right? Concert by AMAZING soprano, best music I've ever heard live, DEFINITELY the MOST INCREDIBLE rendition of Vissi D Arte I've heard EVER recorded or otherwise, and probably the best Un Bel Di as well... my life is finished.

But no.


BECAUSE THEN THE TEACHERS INVITED US TO GO WITH THEM OUT TO DINNER WITH CYNTHIA LAWRENCE AND HER HUSBAND.

I sat and talked/listened to her for HOURS. Oh my GOD, you guys. You don't even know. She's like... I mean... OMG, you guys. She is so smart about music, and she's so down to earth but has such a presence I can't even begin to tell you. OMG. Guys... seriously.

Then to top things off, we were talking about music and I mentioned how I've been told I'll have trouble getting parts as a baritone because I look like a tenor, and she rolled her eyes and said, "You look like a baritone to me. And furthermore, all you need to do is get 'Raul' and put it in your pocket."

So I said, "From what opera? Raul?"

She shook her head and said, "No, from Phantom of the Opera. You don't even have to be a good singer, you just have to be really handsome and you'll get cast--you'd be a fantastic Raul."

Well, the only problem with me trying to play Raoul is that he's actually a tenor part... I believe his line goes up to the high A several times. I might be able to do it in a few years, though... I'm getting up to simi-okay sounding F#'s after a few months of training under my fantastic teacher, so I just need to add a G, G# and an A before I can sing the role :P.

It might be possible for me... I'll probably end up being a lyric baritone, so a role like that shouldn't be out of my scope of possibilities.


BUT OMG!!!!!!!! CYNTHIA LAWRENCE!!!!


I'm totally in awe of her and gushing about her, but her husband, who also sang, was very good too. His voice was not very large, so it was weird to hear her sing, then switch to his voice, then back to hers, but he was very musical and has a wonderful tenor voice.... and it's not like his voice is tiny, it's just not NEARLY as large as hers is. But then most singers voices aren't nearly the size of hers.

Thanks Mari... Just had to take some medicine. It's passed now. I'm feeling slightly better.

Also, I listened to some music to clear my mind and it worked a little bit. If I can be fortunate for my own talents, I can sing pretty well too. I've written a few songs here and there, mostly lately, although the ones I've written lately have a lot of cursing in them...

The last couple of days have been really exciting...in a most horrific way. Imagine aliens land in your back yard and have hand lasers pointed at you...it's that kind of horrific.

I just had my first tap dancing lesson. O_o It was a bit of a bust... most of the people in there have at least some experience, so I was struggling to keep up AND I don't have tap shoes yet... so that kind of sucked hardcore

BUT the class itself was fun, and the teacher is a girl I haven't seen in YEARS. Since 2003! She's super sweet, and I just love her to death... I think this is going to be really fun, and I know it'll definitely be good for me.

Would you mind if I swapped the aliens with hand lasers for evil gnomes with swords? I'm afraid our backyard isn't big enough to have aliens land in. Besides, my father would kill me if I allowed aliens to land in his precious pond.

I'm glad you're feeling better. You write songs? Oh my, I never knew. Of course I am going to abuse this new knowledge.
