Oh man, of course they did that.

Well, maybe I'm not totally logical, but I do understand counting systems. I can actually count in any base you want. I took this crazy computer course in my second year of university, and all I really remember is binary and hexadecimal (base 2 and 16 respectively). Once I learned that, I taught myself base 3 and base 9, just because once you understand how base counting works (which includes our own base 10) you can apply it to anything.

I'm not knocking the Roman system, but it does have its limitations. Big numbers is one of them. I'm sure they found ways around it though.

You have to admit Arabic numerals are pure genius.

Woot! I'm getting better!

But Nurv is right. Arabic numerals did lift the standard quite a bit. We still use them now, so hey, something worked.

That's actually part of what warped me. I am a proud survivor of The New Math, which taught base counting systems to elementary school students. We either understood it...and went on to invent personal computing, or were completely confused, and went on to vote for Republicans.

A harsh system.

Awww darn! I missed some major spamming! And it was fun spamming at that. >_<
Maybe I should go back to the camping out at this place...

Re: supposedly making life-long friends at college: it's a lie! A lie I'm telling you! >_<

I'm at school now even though I don't have class. That's a first to me. Just came back from the doctor too: I have to go to an eye-specialist with my problem, because my symptoms are not possible for someone my age I'm so glad to hear that I'm impossible

Sane, your new bird is cute ^_^

Link, I met my boyfriend in high school; when we were sophomores. Fortunately for us, we didn't start dating till we were seniors (dating since 10th grade and no marriage? I'd die!) But when we were first dating, my dad kept telling me not to get too attached to him, because I might just meet someone better at college. I always appreciated the mountains of support I got from my parents... [/sarcasm].
Well, the way I see it... my parents don't really have any say in the matter lol... I mean, yeah, I'll listen to their opinions and take them to heart, but ultimately it's my life, it's my relationship, and the only people who truly know what goes on in it and what is so good about it are my fiance and I.

My parents have been really supportive (or my mom at least), his parents haven't been, so much... but we're both adults, he's even older than I am, and it's our decision. We've discussed it a lot and it's just the decision that seems to make the most sense...

What are you thinking? I made an amazing apple/cherry pie last night. Can you pick, where you are? I found the UK rather puzzlingly free of fresh food.

So I'm going to this costume ball tommorrow.. and everyone has to dress up to something beginning with the letter I. Any suggestions?

So far I've decided on Illegal Immigrant, but I'm open for other possibilities!

If you're allowed to use Norwegian words, what about an Isbjørn (= Polar Bear)?

Or an Iceberg, which would work in both languages
I don't know how you would dress to look like an Iceberg, though

Edit:
Although I've been to a costume ball once, dressed up as a Norwegian fjord
I should scan the photo if I can find it.
