Well, I spoke to Ben about all this yesterday, and we agree that it might be better from now on when threads reach the 1,000 post limit, to just close them and re-start a new thread by copying and pasting the first and last post of the old thread. Trouble is: the person that originally started the thread would no longer have their name under the title, or on the opening post, we could only give them credit in the opening post of the new thread. Seems like whenever a split or merge of threads happens, the post counts go wacky.

So would members object to mods just closing and re-starting the threads and you lose your name under the titles, or would the screwed up post counts be more preferable?

Seems like there are still bug to work out and things to learn with the newer Vbulletin software.

It's funny you should bring up the subject, because I noticed my Classical Music thread is approching the limit. Close it when you have to, but just don't bother starting another for me, I'll do it myself-I'd like to make a fancy speech. And I don't need posts from the old one...
But I wouldn't mind if you put the old one in the Archives

Sounds good - would it be too much trouble to add a link to the first post of the original thread?

That's fine with me.

Not at all. I think doing it this way would solve a lot of our headaches.

so, how do i get me posts back (after i have another 1,000th post OF COURSE! )

well, if it was a thread i'd started that hit 1,000 posts i'd want posterity to keep the thread starter, even if it was added as a line on the first post or something? or put into an archive. hopefully nothing here is ever lost for all time?

hello btw SGH!
best BB

Go ye unto the top of the mountain and seek out one called Hobbit. All things possible and impossible can be done if you are sincere in your quest.

Today being a federal holiday, most classroom buildings on campus were closed. Which meant that I couldn't get to the readings I was supposed to do for my tutorial

What federal holiday is this\!? I have heard nothing of it, and I surely did not benefit from it at all, other than learning some stuff and getting extra in-school reading time. But that always happens.
