Let's muddy the waters further with a new riddle for y'all to ponder:

Guardians to those who know them not.
Lords of a realm that time has forgot.

I really liked Rosie Gamgee's riddle from a few days back. It got me to thinking that I should try something similar. (after all, imitation is said to be the sincerest form of flattery). Anyway, while not as good as hers I will present this for y'all to play with:

Thirty-three weary riders at the end of the road.
Closely followed by a host uncounted.
Two are as one, and are bound by love.
Two more are as one, and are now bound by death.
Add twenty-eight more, who are bound by oaths.
And one leads them all, bound by fate.

editors note: I suppose y'all need to put names where the numbers are.

Let's see... Mount Mindolin was snow capped, and had the 'Tower of Guard' (Minas Tirith) on its shoulder - it held the Rath Dinen - the tombs of Gondor's Kings - and on it grew a sapling of the White Tree - which was descended of a line older than those kings.

Nice one.

Thankyou. You are of course correct with Mt. Mindolluin, and well done on solving it so exactly.

All the other riddles in this thread have been matched with their answers. Except for this one:

Pure and white.
Without stain or blight.
Soaring with pride
at a great height.

If it's not a tower, how about a mountain... Celebdil perhaps?

Thanks for guessing again elixir. It is not Celebdil, nor is it any other mountain.

Since y'all are so stumped by the white riddle I will give you a new one that may be easier to solve:

Portend of war, it came from afar.
A malice so baleful it ate up the stars.

It is not, i repeat NOT a mountain. The solution has nothing to do with mountains whatsoever. It is not a tower either, although in a sense it is connected to towers. I am beginning to like this riddle quite a bit!

If you mean the Darkness, you are correct. If not, then this riddle is a 'gimmie'.

Sorry - I had missed that before.

Along similar lines with Chrys, I had wondered early if it was Vingilot, but wasn't sure if that met other critieria you've already hinted about it either.

the white riddle continues to confound! It is not the star of earendil, nor is it any other star or heavenly body. Keep guessing...
