Oh, definately! And the part where Frodo wakes up- "I had the strangest dream! And you were there, and you were there.." Oh, btw, those flying-monkey guards outside the Witch's castle are saying, "We all love the old one."

I think of Star Wars all the time when I watch LotR. Or maybe the other way around. The whole thing with Obi-Wan dying mid-way through the first episode (okay, okay, technically it's episode 4- I'm excluding the first three, which I hate)- and then coming 'back to life' in the second; the droids/Ring showing up on the underdog's doorstep and thus throwing him right in the middle of the war... there's more, and I can't think of them now, despite the fact that I just watch 4, 5, and 6 a few days ago. I think that George Lucas might have taken a little inspiration from Tolkien.

They didn't have a choice. The technology wasn't good enough to make the first ones first. But lets not continue about SW, we're way of topic.

Ditto...

To keep on topic:
__________________________
Gollum:Take the ring!
Gandalf:Thanks!
Frodo:No! It's mine!
Sam:Take it for all I care.
Gollum:On second thought, I'd better take it to souron...
Gandalf, Frodo, and Sam:That sounds like a good idea!

Edit:Woops, I put this in the wrong place! To stay on topic:
I'd make the Balrog look like it is described in the book

In Bree:

I would have had Aragorn give a better explaination (similar to how done in the book) of why the Hobbits should trust Aragorn instead of the abrupt manner portrayed in the movie.

In Weathertop:

Have the Hobbits huddled around the fire for warmth & protection. When Black Riders are detected have Aragorn organize the party with torches around the fire.

Forget about torching the nazgul (although nice visually this leads to awkward questions). Have the nazgul leave soon after stabbing Frodo. No need to show a Ranger sending 5 black riders running single handed. (This is LOTR and not a typical Western)

just some thoghts for now.
I know this comment was posted ages ago, but I just read it and really love these change ideas, Mithrand1r... I didn't see this thread before, or I might not have started the You be the Director one.
