Arwen Undomiel

Are we on number 12 now?

12=there are 12 months in the Shire calendar

The Shire calendar is the calendar that the Shire folk go by (it has 12 months in it).

E is for the Endless Stair of Moria that even to the Dwarves was but a rumor, but which really existed and up which Gandalf chased the Balrog right to the top where it opened in Durin's Tower carved into the pinnacle of Zirakzigil. It was destroyed during the battle between Gandalf and the Balrog.

11 - The number of stars and constellations listed in one sentence in "Of the Coming of the Elves" in The Silmarillion:
  1. Carnil, star
  2. Luinil, star
  3. Nénar, star
  4. Lumbar, star
  5. Alcarinquë, star
  6. ElemmÃ*rë,star
  7. Wilwarin, constellation
  8. Telumendil, constellation
  9. Soronúmë, constellation
  10. AnarrÃ*ma, constellation
  11. Menelmacar, constellation, a/k/a Menelvagor

There is some debate over the correspondence of some of these stars and constellations with real stars today, though others are quite clear.

Have you not come to your present state by your own actions, and will also go hence according to your own actions? Anger towards another is just as if someone wishing to hit another person takes hold of glowing coals, or a heated iron-rod, or of excrement. And, in the same way, if the other person is angry with you, what can he do to you? Can he destroy your virtue and your other good qualities? He too has come to his present state by his own actions and will go hence according to his own actions. Like an unaccepted gift or like a handful of dirt thrown against the wind, his anger will fall back on his own head."

13 Valar under Manwe? How do you come up with that?

Anyway, Seven seems to have gotten skipped.

7 - The Seven Seeing-stones

Globes of obsidian? of great power made by the Elves of Aman, the Seeing-stones allowed one to look across space, and to communicate with the keeprs of another Stone.

The Valar are: Varda, Aule, Yavanna, Niena, Mandos, Orome, Tulkas, Ulmo, Lorien, Este, Vanna, Nessa, Vaire. (I'm not sure how to write part of them)

Weren't there more Valar? Those were the "lords and ladies" of the Valar, I seem to remember...

Edit: When I think it over, I can't remember any more Valar...

There are 7 ladies and 7 lords of the Valar. As you can see there are in my list 14 Valar (when you adds Manwe).

I really wonder why I believed there were 12 Valar, too.

Is there nobody who knows a new Tolkien word with J?
