Re: Bickering

Ahh, the wheel of time!
As summer is finally here, and school is done for me, I decided I should finally read the latest in the series - which, for me, means rereading it all to get caught back up! (my memory = nonexistant.)
So got em all out monday, and am just starting on the fourth book now - I had forgotten how good the first few books are, and how compelling to read!

Flat Pancakes without Whipped Cream

I had too. I've just been centering all my rereading on the last two or three books, but yesterday I got "The Fires of Heaven" from the library and stayed up till 11:45 reading (Yawns) it. And my normal bed time was meant to be (yawns again) a lot earlier. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT="">

Re: Flat Pancakes without Whipped Cream

Well! Just finished the series yesterday - I realized I hadn't read either of the last two books, so actually had a good deal of new things, which was cool. Heh, I came into work yesterday, but had nothing set up yet, so they didn't have anything for me to do. So I spent the entire day basically reading the last two books. ~grin~
I've heard that Jordan is only halfway done the series, but I've also heard he plans to do 13 total, and other such - anyone know how long it is supposed to go on for?
At least he has started to tie up a few loose ends, though. Still, I think the way he tried to balance a dozen plotlines at once slows things down a bit.

Mosedeos

I don't know how long it's meant to be, but it does seem like it is only about half way done. There's still a lot to happen, although a few things certainly have been completed which had to be completed.

I wonder how many Forsaken will be left by the time the Last Battle happens.

Re: Mosedeos

Heh, that question would be a lot easier to answer if they would stay dead!

Re: Mosedeos

I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing Lanfear again, although we might already have. Although if we have, Moiraine is dead. I think Cyndane isn't Lanfear, but she is connected to her somehow. This is because Moiraine left every door open for a return appearance. I reread the scene of her demise a couple days ago, and I was looking carefully for some definite proof she was dead. I didn't find any, and I think if Robert Jordan had intended to kill them, he would have done it so that we could see it, instead of leaving a door hanging open.

She passed her bond on to another, which means Lan couldn't prove she was dead. She said in her letter that by the time he read it, she would be "gone" not necessarily dead. Perhaps they went through some sort of portal in time, or maybe another dimension, sort of like the world of dreams.

I doubt we'll be seeing anyone who was killed by balefire again, which excludes Be'lal and Rahvin. And maybe Sammael.

Re: Mosedeos

Yeah, I had wondered over the Moraine vanishing for a while, and I think a number of things do point to her return. Also recall that the portal she and Lanfear fell through goes to the land of the Aelfinn and Eelfinn (or whatever the snake and fox people are called.)
Also, Min makes a comment in one of the books, after Moraine's "death" that Moraine was her only viewing that didn't come true...
And, of course, a ambigious death scene leaving no corpses usually means people will be back.
Not sure if you are up to the last one yet, but it does reveal a number of things, including which of the various forsaken are back (and yes, Lanfear is around - in a way that indicates Moraine may be alive.) I don't want to reveal any more, in case you haven't read it.
And yeah, those who were hit by Balefire are "gone from the wheel", and a quote somewhere in there admits that even the Dark One can't bring them back. Also, I doubt Asmodean will be back - he is probably roasting in pain for his betrayal somewhere.

Re: Mosedeos

How about Moiraine, in that other place, assuming she's alive, giving birth to.... Gaidal Cain?

Now that would be bizzarre.

Re: Mosedeos

Utterly impossible. Gaidal Cain was born before she went through the portal, according to Birgitte.

Yes, I'm just wondering now what happened to Moiraine. Another thing that probably will be addressed in the next book. I hope it will, anyway.

Re: The Wheel of Time

I just wish they hadn't lost their old bodies and powers. But I bet there is still quite a bit more left to happen about this. Maybe Moiraine will reappear in the next one and explain what happened.

Re: The Wheel of Time

i think that with the additio of the latest book, Winter's heart, Dumai's Wells is the second-best scene, with "With the Chodan Kal" (sp? i'm at work, it's the last chapter) replacing it.

and moirane has to come back, thom merrilin hasn't saved her yet. and Cyndane is most definitely Lanfear.

go here for the FAQ of one of the more thorough online WoT communities : www.thetaint.org/nmfaq.html

and just cuz, that old man on the barrel watching carradin's palace is jaim farstrider

No, I think the beggar guy was some high up Darkfriend that Carradin was beneath... if I recall correctly.

Re: The Wheel of Time

My favourite scene in WOT?

When Rand goes to Rhuidean to prove he's the Car'a'carn (in Book 4 "the Shadow Rising"), with all those flashbacks to the Age of Legends.

Also when Rand and Couladin both reveal the dragons on their forearms at the same time, confusing the Aiel.

Separate Forum for WOT?

THere's a LOT of postings about the Wheel of Time here. I wonder if we should beg Ben and the admins to create a new forum for this book?

Re: Separate Forum for WOT?

Not necessary. We can just keep on adding pages .

My favorite scene is probably the ending scene to The Winter's Heart. That last battle was excellently written. At the end, it was just impossible to get away from.

Re: The Wheel of Time

As long as he keeps putting out the books, we can keep on posting!

My favorite scene... is probably the battle in the Great Hunt (I think), where Rand and Ishmael duel in the sky, and the battle below (Heroes of the Horn vs Seanchan) mirrors their actions.
