Honestly, I was hoping for a nice quiet ending, with maybe an orc or two that Aerin could let some of the more boisterous players defeat. I'd rather be scouting than battling. It's so hard to write battle scenes efficiently when there are so many of us.

Well, we'll see what comes from the scouting.
Maybe Eärniel knows what we will find, and chooses to PM one of us with hints?

I'm not a good one for battle scenes at all, regardless of number of participants ...

Well to be exact, I never said there'd be an actual fight, just that there's an army marching towards us. Wo knows how it turns out? But have no fear, I'd never force someone to write a battle scene if that doesn't interest them.

As for the PM, you're reading my mind, I was just writing some things down for that!

I like our small conversation, Midge.
We should also identify the army soon, now that we've seen most of it ...

And the fight three hundred years ago that Baru is talking about, can be read here ...

So my next questions (which I don't really expect to be answered, because they seem to be part of the whole RPG experience here ) are:

Is this army trying to fight with us, or is this another of Hedrim's misguided attempts to help us?

If there is a fight, are we going to have to carry the win, or are we going to get help from an outside source (like the eagles or Elves or something)?

I suppose it doesn't really matter to me. I've got two characters who are opposites. If there is no fight, or if there is and we get outside help, Aerin will be happy, and if there is a fight, and we're on our own, Magor will be happy.

*sigh*... Men.... *shakes head*

Hmm, I wonder where I should jump in? Has my character been killed off or is he still tagging around?

I try not to kill off characters just for being inactive, so he should still be around.

A short refresher of recent events: The adventurers went into the Iron Hills, found the cave where the Entwives are supposed to be imprisoned but they haven't found them yet. Instead they met the Guardian, who is a bit unhinged and not very helpful. The shadow martens showed up but the confrontation was cut short as there's an army marching towards the cave. Barufiniel, Aerin and Borin have gone off to scout, the rest is preparing to take refuge in the cave should the army be non-friendly.

Do we know whose army this is? And Hedrim is AWOL? Hmm... I'll see if I can post tofday. I guess Redplate was making spiked barriers and chokepoints this whole while, industrious fellow that he is.

I'm not particularly great at writing battle scenes either. Tabrîl's just the type to think fighting is the solution to just about everything. Radagast might have more sense.

A duel with the leader of the enemy would appeal to her sense of honor, the way I see Tabrîl

Radagast might not accept her offer, though ...

When you're a warrior every solution you see will undoubtedly involve fighting.

It's kind of funny, really, that Hedrim's betrayal was already planned years ago with Orithil, Hedrim's minder, since he thought that would be cool. Although it's been long since Orithil has posted, I thought to just go along with it.

I think it's a good idea to honor ideas of earlier players in a RPG. Provided they still fit with the new development of the story, that is. And those ideas certainly fit in here and add a nice twist towards the end of the story.
Good thinking!

I think it's quite funny that you can accurately include the phrase "years ago" in that sentence.. it's been what? three, four years?

Yeah, the first discussion thread was started way back in 2007.

I think that qualifies this as a truly epic RP.

Yeah, it all did run a bit longer than I had originally planned in 2007...
