This was going to be an interesting match. The two soul mates Lalaith and Linaewen were going to wrestle, which seemed impossible. How could two best friends fight each other? The spectators wondered if any of them would show up at all. But finally they came and entered the mud pit.
There were many similarities between the soul mates. One called herself Lai, the other one Lin. Lalaith came from Austria, Linaewen came from Australia. Both were members of the JD team.
But there were also some differences between the two girls. Lalaith was a sweet Elf, Linaewen was an evil Half-Elf. Lalaith was a person of “From the Eldar Days”, Linaewen was a Conspirator.
And so they stood, face to face in the mud pit, and a great wind rose and blew, and their raven hair streamed out in the air. And the clouds departed, and the sun was unveiled, and light leaped forth, and the waters of the nearby river shone like silver, and in all the houses around the mid pit men sang for joy that welled up in their hearts from what source they could not tell.
Linaewen thought: “If I end this match as quickly as possible, perhaps I won’t have a guilty conscious afterwards”. Lalaith thought exactly the same thing, and the two girls both made a fist. The same moment as the Umpire started the match, the contestants leaped forward towards one another, ready to deal a finishing blow. They both hit each other in their cheeks and they the two of them flew backwards. Surprised that they had executed exactly the same move at the same time, they stood up and gathered strength for another blow. They leaped forward again and started boxing. It was interesting to see, because it was as if they were fighting their mirror images. Whenever one girl aimed a punch at her opponent’s head, the other one aimed a punch at the first girl’s head. When one of them went for an uppercut, the other one did too. This was maybe the most even match in the history of mud wrestling.
“I need a new tactic”, Lalaith thought after an hour of fighting. “If Lin does whatever I think of doing myself, then I’m able to predict Lin’s every move. So if I dodge Lin’s attacks instead of executing the same attack myself, I could get an advantage”.
And so she did. Lalaith knew exactly how Linaewen would move and how she would attack, so Lalaith had no problems in avoiding being hit by her opponent. When Lalaith dodged, she also got a chance to punch Linaewen, who was wide open to counterattacks whenever her own attacks failed. Lalaith punched Linaewen here and there, trying to avoid hurting any vital organs. She didn’t want her soul mate to suffer severe injuries.
“Oh my Illúvatar!”, Linaewen thought for herself. “I can’t go on fighting like this, I must get out of this boxing match as soon as I can!”. So Linaewen stopped boxing and instead she started wrestling with Lalaith. But Lalaith just applied the same tactic and made her wrestling technique tailor-made, taking into calculation Linaewen’s moves. Lalaith remained superior to her opponent, and when she got the opportunity, she threw Linaewen over her shoulder and down into the mud. Lalaith held her elbow on Linaewen’s neck, forcing her to remain lying still on the muddy ground. “I’m sorry, soul mate, but this is for the best”. And the Umpire ended the match…
Of the two soul mates, Lalaith proved to be the best mud wrestler and was worthy winner of the Gold Medal. But Linaewen wasn’t sad, she was happy to have taken the Silver Medal. In tears the girls hugged and congratulated each other. Having their arms around one another, they received their medals, and the spectators cheered as never before…

The Medallists of the Annual Entmoot Mud Wrestling Tournament 2003 were now made famous at Entmoot. The Gold Medallists JerseyDevil and Lalaith, the Silver Medallists Insidious Rex and Linaewen, the Bronze Medallists Congressmn and Ruinel… Every ‘Mooter recognized them.
And if the Entmoot Investigation Bureau wishes to sponsor another Mud Wrestling competition, we will see each other again in the Annual Entmoot Mud Wrestling Tournament 2004!

Well I know ONE THING they'd fight over.

Congratulations Lalaith. it was hard rooting for just one of you - so I was rooting for both. Sorry - Linaewen - but it was a hard fought fight. You fought well.

Jonathan - you worked really hard on these two matches. Not as hard as the Coney vs JD - that took two posts - but these were long too.

So do we win free trips to Sweden or the place of our choice?
