I gave it a '3'... too many changes and too many things added that shouldn't have been for me to give it anything more. I'm curious as to what other's have said, I'll wade through all these posts eventually and read them..... someday.

agree entirely, John Rhys Davies could have made an incredible Gimli but his part turned out to be quite poor... they just destroyed legolas, who needs the army of the dead when youve got legolas, he shouldve gone into battle and single handedly destroyed Sauron and his minions and claimed his rightful throne, as if aragorn needed legolas' help with the palantir

I give it a 4. It's a good movie, but the accelerated pace of the scenes at the Tower of Cirith Ungol bugged me so much that I find it nearer to 3 than to 5.

Too bad there wasn't anything between a 3 and a 4. It would have to be a 3.

Some parts were well done, some were not.

legolas definitly didnt kill an oliphaunt singlehandedly, and the lack of the scouring of the shire was an abomidation. when i was about 2 thirds of the way done watching, i didnt like it at all.
but in the grey havens, i thought pj redeemed himself. i was crying at the end.
You gave the movie a 5/5 for one scene you liked?

Come on - Pippin and Merry weren't even shown to have grown in the Grey Havens and where were all the elves going into the west? How could that ship take them all the way across the ocean?

im going to give the EE a 6/5 for sure!
The fact that you are already giving a rating to a movie you haven't seen speaks volumes.

What did you give it JD? I'm surprised you didn't give it a 1. Unless you're giving it a rating based on its value as a movie, not an adaptation.

I gave it a 4, but it would have been 3.5 if I had the choice.

I gave it a three. I think my rating is on the first page. That is SOLELY as a movie. As Lord of the Rings - it sucks and would be given a ZERO.

RE:

I rated it a four out of five . . . . . mainly because of some jumpy editing (which worked for some scenes but detracted from others).

i gave it a 5/5, but with reservations. i've seen it twice, and the first time i loved it so much. but the second time i took a closer look, and it really wasn't as good as i first thought. but it was good enough for a 5 i think

Strider Hi guys...

hi guys...I'm a newbie here and a big fan of the LOTR (books and movies) just like the rest of you.

I gave ROTK a 5. It was a good adaptation of the books although understandably PJ had to cut a lot of the plot from the book because it would just be too long wouldn't it?

The effects for Gollum were so great...Andy Serkis deserves an award...and the CGI team as well!!!

I gave it a 5/5 just because of the ending. that was great. the rest was a 3 or 4/5 due to mistakes, but the ending was so good it bumped the rest of the movie up. I mean, I'm very surprised PJ could understand and express the grey havens as well as he did.
I'm worried about a movie of the sil though, as I think PJ just couldn't appreciate the "celticness" of the story.

I'm also giving it a 5/5 because I'm sure the EE will contain some great stuff.

Are you implying that the theatrical version did not contain great stuff? If so, future possibilities isn't much of a basis for a perfect score.

Edit: I see what you mean about the end, but still, that means the movie wasn't perfect, and therefore not 5/5 worthy IMO. (Obviously nothing is actually perfect, but you were referring to decent mistakes there I thought.)

I loved it and hated it, if that's possible. I was very disappointed, but I still loved it. I'm confusing myself now, and probably everyone else, so don't mind me.

I gave it a 4/5.
