Um... just a point: from an anthropological point of view, how good an idea is it to mix modern technology with a feudal age? I can't see anything but negative repurcussions for ME, and personally, I don't think I'd want to be the twit who managed to knock ME civilisation so out of whack, that instead of the One Ring, we'd have to worry about the other terrors of modern technology. Also, from a sociological point of view, how would this impact upon the various peoples in ME? As handy as a torch, or a discman would be, I think it would probably start either insanity, ("Ooh, magic..."), headhunting, ("Let's get her! She must be a spawn of Sauron..."), and maybe a black market trade!!

Why the anthropocentric view? We don't really care about the humans, just the elves. Plus what's the problem with starting cults etc?

I think in reality I would just run as fast as I could to elven lands, screaming "A Elbereth Gilthoniel" the whole way. They might not kill me since I know some elvish. Not enough for normal life there but I could learn.

Or better yet, just singing...

"Ho! Tom Bombadil, Tom Bombadillo!
By water, wood and hill, by the reed and willow,
By fire, sun and moon, harken now and hear us!
Come Tom Bombadil, for our need is near us!"

I hear he comes pretty fast.....

What? Just me? Ala Terminator?

In which case we all appear naked...

Well, then I'm sure some kindly female will appear to take care of me shortly after my appearance

Or maybe I'd ask for an Elven-Cloak in Lorien.

I you ran, screaming the whole way, I'm sure you'd run into trouble sooner or later. Some orcs'll pounce on you, or something. Besides, remember how hard it was to get into Rivendell, even if you knew exactly where it was? Ditto for Lothlorien. The best policy, would probably be to make for Bree, depending of course, where you land in ME. Gondor would be another good place to be, if you managed to avoid the Gap of Rohan. Failing that, mug an orc, and wear it's armour, mingle in with them, until an opportune time came to escape....

I think if you were there long enough you'd learn. Just look at ppl who go away for a year to some random country and come back knowing more than if they'd taken a course in it. It's a good plan IMO

Wow! BoP came up with a sensible plan!!

Hmmm....

And where's your clothes?

You can do without clothes for a while, what will really hurt is the lack of shoes. Traveling barefoot really really sucks.

Well: that would be why I was in the middle of mugging an orc... Anyway, I think that probably any naked female could probably manage to convince some passing nomads to give her supplies.

Very true. I think us fanatics who routinely go around a la hobbit would have an advantage since we would barely notice not having shoes. Or clothes. You know their feet weren't the only place they were hairy...

*shudders at the thought of a naked, hairy hobbit*
