It's... kind of a gay club.

A clean one, apparently, which is more of a social hookup than a date-rape hookup .

But
1. I've never been to a club before
2. I can't dance for crap
3. I'm just nervous.

I figure worst case is I go, meet the guy, hang out for a while, then say my allergies are really bothering me (they kind of are anyways), and head home.

But... erg. I'm just nervous. I -do- want to go, but I also kind of don't.

So make up your mind. I still don't get why you are not deciding NOW.

Hmm. Clubs in general tend to tilt sleazy. I've never been to a club, but one of my siblings...Enough said.

1) Well, you can't know if you like it or not then
2) Most people can't, they just pretend to be able to do so and to the unpracticed onlooker it may look like they are good. If you're really unsure, just stand to the side with a drink and move a bit.
3) You can do it!!! Banzai!

If you go, at least you might have fun. If you don't go, you won't have fun and you might very well regret it later.

Go and have fun! See you around later

To get to the ventingpart: I finally spoke with someone from the helpdesk who seemed to know what she was doing, but she could not see my point and thus they cut off the internet, so now I'm without internet at home.
If I would be so kind as to start a new subscription to their services...
Worst thing is, they are the only ones who actually offer internet where I live, so I can't even threaten to go to someone else. The entire flat has had problems with these people, but until they have someone to compete against I don't think they'll start offering some better service.
*grumble grumble*

Oh, Lord, Tessar.

Gay clubs are just like regular clubs, with too much techno, usually. People stand around pretending to drink $3 sodas.

Did you go? You're making me do my Auntie Mame impression, over here.

My wife's family is Taiwan Aboriginal, and there is a big alcoholism problem among them, much the same as North American Indians or New Zealand Maoris or Aussie Aboriginals.

Yes, I went, and it was... okay.

Definitely not really my thing. The music was too loud, I don't particularly find the antics of drunk people -that- funny, and the majority of the conversations revolved around sex... who they wanted to have it with, who they had, and how having it had screwed up their lives.

These were smart people, I could tell.

Plus I think I may be allergic to smoke. I started feeling sick a bit after I walked in, and my eyes stung for a while yesterday morning.

Actually, most of the people I met pissed me off to a major extent... just because it was like they had surrendered all control of their lives. "In God's Hands" my ass... more like in Budwiser's hands.

Deafening music, stinky smoke and stupid drunks, how familiar that sounds....the very reasons I never went out much in my teenage years.

It's fun once in a while, but I could never understand why people did it weekly, or daily...

Yeah, but all that seclusion turned you into a frog...which is good or bad, depending on how you feel

Seclusion, seclusion, none of that! It's not because someone isn't a party animal that one is dull or fond of seclusion. I never have understood, and still don't, how not being that much interested in parties or drinking until you drop is bad. (I could vent about that for a while.) It's okay to go out and have fun, but people shouldn't be pushing you if you don't want to go.

Everything in moderation, I say. Parties also.

I'm not trying to bite your nose off here, Hector, it's just that I'm a bit fed up with how my fellow students went on and on about parties and looked at me like I'm an purple alien from Mercurius for not drinking any alcohol on parties. (Hey look, I'm actually on topic here. )

And as for my highschool and college years: Je ne regrette pretty much rien.

And don't forget the Germans and Scots-Irish Runs bad in my family.

As for the clubbing:
I've never been clubbing or went to the wild parties. Got invited to plenty, but never actually went. One of my bffs has been asking me to go to this karaoke bar she frequents. I have yet to go. I've had a few drinks but I have never gotten drunk off my rear, plastered, hammered, how ever you want to say it. Budweiser is just gross. OK beer in general is gross.

Pretty much, everyone in my high school class went to wild parties that had alcohol. Which is probably why more then half the girls had kids, but i digress...

I think a big part of it for me is that I don't NEED to get drunk to forget my problems. Being around good friends, and talking about other things is enough to make me snap out of almost anything... I don't need to drown myself in 'forgetfulness-wine'.

It just bugs me... instead of spending time taking ACTION to solve their problems, these people sit around, get drunk, and bitch about their problems. Or they try to be teenagers again... which is retarded.

For what it's worth, Tessar, my experience is that most people don't actually know what their problems are. Often they engage in self-medicating because their lives hurt, but they can't take action because they don't know why. Of course, being addicted gives them a new set of problems, but at least it's a matched set.

To be among the few people, in any age group, who can actually describe your problems accurately, is a significant blessing.
