I think I see your point, but the locket from both Merope's neck and from Hepzibah's house was gold, and the one from grimmauld palce,as i said, was silver. So unless Voldemort changed the color, they can't be one and the same
Actually, the quote from OotP about the locket in Grimmauld place is just "a heavy locket that none of them could open". THAT'S IT. It never says the locket was silver-- people have been assuming that because it seemed like most of the stuff in Grimmauld place was silver. We do know that Slytherin's locket was gold, so if it's Slytherin's locket (which is very likely, from the hints JKR has given us in interviews and such), then the locket from Grimmauld place is also Gold.

It does seem that without the inferi between them it may have worked, but if they couldn't touch the potion or go through it.... Was the goblet DD made crystal? Maybe only somethings could go through the potion. It the goblet was metal than the metal locket could maybe go through.... But....

That's interesting, and it could really be the horcrux, but don't you think that Harry would have recognized it as the locket from Grimmauld Place when he first saw it in the memories that Dumbledore showed him?

don't you think it would've had some property to it besides not opening? also, we have no way of knowing the potion would've refilled! [shuffles off muttering to self of potions and cauldrons]

or mabye the gold locket was actually the fake locket all along and the real one is silver and voldemort hid it or got someone else to hid it in grimauld place...what if the one which we thought was wasnt the real one at all and the real one actually all this time was hidden in grimauld place. what about that? confusing mabye but i think that the one we all thought was the real one was fake and that J.K Rowling is just trying to confuse us and really the silver locket is the real one and merople had the fake one all along...but then again they would have tested it would have they? to see if it actually was the real one or mabye its not and they didnt test it and we have all been misguided in thinking that one was the real one. or mabye regulus switched the locket and gave voldemort the fake one and he thought it was actually the real one but it was a replica and the real one was hidden by regulus in grimauld and thats why he left the death eaters and mabye thats why he was killed but voldemort can not find the real one because regulus couldnt tell him where it was so voldemort continued to think that the one that he put his soul into was the fake one but actually the fake one has nothing in it and regulus stole the real one right after voldemort transferred part of his soul into it.

well they tried to accio the pendent from the shore right? well they couldnt and the inferni hand jumped out of the water so they couldnt get the locket...they potion was there to be drunk to uplift and revive voldemort but as it happens it became a poison because someone had already gotten to it. so if they went to the island and tried to accio it there it couldnt work. voldemort already thought about that and must have put up a sheald to stop anyone from just accio-ing it out because that would be only too easy to get at his soul. voldemort would like to take all precausions because we are dealing with part of his soul and he must take all the precausions and he must of looked over all the obsticles dealing with this. he is a very careful person and in the book it says he would never trust anyone no matter how long they had been serving him

And, that great big, confusing 'rant' (post 73). The locket was tested when purchased by Borgon (sp?) so it was for sure S.S.'s then. And that's the one Voldy used. So the one Merope had was authentic- so, how was that one discribed?

the #73 rant was alllll me!!!

sorry that was alllllll me yesterday...i just poured out my thoughts. okay about the potion...voldemort hides his horcruxes personally so he would put in a potion to help him get stronger and then he would collect his soul and volia! voldy has his soul and in him a potion that made him stronger. if you think about it it makes a lot of sense....lol to me lol....so when the person who stole the locket would want it to look like it had been berfore they stole the locket...so the person who stole the locket obliviously wanted voldy to die...so by putting in a poison, its tricking voldy into thinking that the soul was never touched right? and then he'd drink it thinking i'll be strong again but then he chokes on it and dies...tragic...lol
hahahah confusing and long but perfectly my thoughts lol
