And can you imagine a dwarf having to resist the temptation of all those orcs in Mordor.

LOL, after those bearded Dwarven women, even a female Orc might look good.

Orc women were actually VEEEerrry beautiful! It's just that once they got their hooks in a fella, they turned out to be incessant with their badgering, nagging, controlling and manipulating!

That's why all those Orcs would go out and do ANYTHING as an excuse to stay away from home!

Where would they go on evenings out. A romantic eye lit dinner in Barad-dur?

Somehow the idea of Orcs and love, or even "lovin'" seem mutually exclusive.

no, a dwarf would no better then a hobbit. i think they would be more attracted of the ring, since they once had got their own high rings.
and they would tray to slay their way to mount doom instead of sneaking in the dark.

I suppose in Cirith Ungol it would sound more like an army than a dwarf.

yes, possibly a dwarf would have been a better ring-bearer in the way that they are a very stubborn race, but they are also a little bit rash with their thinking and never seem to think around things (such as collasal(sp) battles) as much as rush head-on in to them with axes in hand

If it came to Gimli to complete the Quest, I think he would be strategic about his approach. He knew from Elrond that stealth is the necessity. However, Dwarves really have a weak point for treasure, and I think the Ring would exploit that unbelieveably well.

Giving a Dwarf visions of endless treasure, hundreds of forges at his service, beautifully worked caves, etc. is much more likely to be successful than giving a Hobbit visions of a Middle-earth-wide garden. Sam's chief desire was to be home safe with his own bit of garden - not a lot of exploitable material in that.

On contrary. Since their ancestors were creature of romantic nature, the passion did not die out in the depth of rough and resillient orc's heart and on scarce occasions it was breaking through like a ray of sun into the gloomy depth of Moria.

Hmm... A dwarf being the ringbearer... Interesting thought. I think there are some pros and cons. Dwarves are stubborn and don't give up, which would be helpful. However, they are quite greedy and have a love of precious things such as gold, jewels, mithril, etc. Probably, it would be safer to keep the Ring away from dwarves in the long run.

Strider Dwarfs? Nah!

Remember what gimli did at the councle?
And the dwarf rings have all been captured or eaten (Dragons ).
So I don't think a dwarf would make a good ring-bearer.

(Nether would an elf!)
