That's too bad Arathorn.

Anyway, for all you procrastinators and vacationers out there, we've extended the deadline for applying to Friday.

So when can we expect the announcement of the new moderator?

When we've made our selection .

I suppose it could be anywhere from 2-10 days after the deadline.

The admins here do a fine job, you don't have to be so critical!!
Oh, it's not the job they do as admins that bothers me... it's statements like GDL96's "The only thing that I liked about (the hobbit) was when there was that one guy in the cave" Or Ben saying "I haven't visited the tolkien forums in over a year." Little things like that.

Actually, It's most likely that I just don't pay attention to CBG and SGH, or some others. But the ones that I have noticed recently (or not so recently) haven't been in a positive light.

But it's ok... It's not like they're ruining the boards or anything.

Gdl's statement is from 1999 - we were in eighth grade. He was not a moderator at the time. He has since finished "The Hobbit" and enjoyed it. I think he also read LotR.

Also, I never said that I haven't visited the Tolkien forums in a year. Look again. I visit all the forums every day, when time permits. I just don't actively participate in the debates anymore, which means I don't have the time to go in there on a daily basis and analyze LotR.

I'm afraid it's rather difficult to run the board and the website, do homework, practice five zillion instruments, and also give a dissertation on the Sil every day for three years. But you know what? I don't have to. Entmoot is established enough that hundreds of debates, conversations, and games can go on without me having to pick my brain every day coming up with a decent topic just to keep the board from dying.

I continue to spend time and money on Entmoot because I enjoy providing a community where Tolkien fans, casual and diehard alike, can talk about the books that brought us together or just chat. Keeping that community a place appropriate and fun for all ages is an honor. If there are those among you that would enjoy helping people out and keeping a respected community running smoothly, then by all means apply to be a moderator .

Well said, Ben. I applied a couple of minutes ago. I don't know how good my chances are, but if I don't get the position I'm not gonna be mad or anything.

If you say so.
I was referring to your comment on
this thread, but it hardly matters.

In any case... I'm sure that being a Mod is somewhat taxing. Which is another reason I'll happily leave it to you folks. Management is not something I have a gift for. ]: )

Who knows... if emplynx becomes the new moderator, the Doomed Thread Award with the padlock art might become official.
