Thanks! yeah, I don't like the color either, but you can get it in other colors. I'm thinking dark green or light blue...but that's a while away.

I joked aroudn once that if I didn't have a date for one of my proms, I was going to get a dress that looked like a tux, or just go in a tux. We'll see.

Legolas's Lothlorien costume would be a neat prom outfit

It would.

I think the gown would look best in a light blue, as you said, or a light green. Something pale and pretty.

i would love that gown in a forest green, or maybe a rust red. light blue is a wonderful color but it just doesn't work for me. ooooh! does it come in gold? like an amber color, dark gold? cuz that would be really lovely, or silver.

You could probably get in in grey or amber, you'd have to talk to the person that makes it about the available colors, since it's 'panne velvet'. Ahhh...I can't wait until prom next year

Except...what was with the stuff Legolas was wearing in Lothlorien? I mean, it looked good, but why was he wearing it? There really was no purpose there, and it seemed rather out of place.
that outfit was under his grey green ( i love that colour BTW) traveling gear, you can see the arms when hes leaving rivendell and down the river andiun.
it's like he took off his jacket in lorien, and was quite comfy. i liked that affect... made me feel at peace to, thought the shaking from the excitement of of watching hadn't stopped yet.

Thanks. Yeah, that makes sense. I did see that under his jacket. Oh, dear, this does make my costume-making more complicated. . .I'm trying to make a Legolas costume for opening day of TTT in December--my friends and I are trying to get nine of us together so we can each be a member of the Fellowship. Now we just need a Frodo and a Gimli. . .but back to the subject. . .I love that Lothlorien outfit! I wish I could have it (my own, thanks, not Orlando Bloom's costume that he actually wore!) for prom or something! (seeing as I have to look nice) And yeah, grey green IS such a wonderful color!

don't know where to find a close-up of the leaf clasp, but you might ask LuthienTinuviel - she's certainly seen the movie enough times! what material are you using for the cloaks? i think that's an awesome idea! also, what are you using for a pattern? since this is a costume thread, could we post patterns for the costumes that people are making, with pictures? cuz i think this is a really cool idea! now to round up my two hardcore Tolkien fan friends and start sewing...

look for pictures of the hobbits after lorien on the river andiun.
the face shots go low enough to get a nice picture of the leaf clasps.

Hear, hear, Tinuviel Child-not fair!!!! I wish I could do that. . .I would so like to make Nenya--my own version, not what they did in the movie. It was pretty, but I imagined something else. And those leaf broaches-I must find one somewhere!!! I'll need it for Dec. 18th, with the Fellowship I'm gathering. We'll all need them, come to think of it.
