This is just a guess, if you made a little mistake in repeating "not" at the end, and I will also be guessing at who said it.
"The wide world is all about you: you can fence yourselves in, but you cannot [not] ever fence it out." said by Gandalf?

You are very very close. The word is not (not), and the speaker is not Gandalf. I will give you a small hint. the word that you thought was (not) but isn't, is sometimes found with the next word as one word. However, not in this case.

Well, I don't know who the speaker is, but I think the phrase is:
" ... Cannot for ever fence ...

Correct, now all you have to do is find out who said it. Shouldn't be too difficult.

TinuvielChild, this one has been solved pretty much. You are welcome to take a stab at who said it. It's funny, this has gone to 3 pages, but there have only been 3 quotes done.

C'mon Mooters, get with it.

Stupid Bilbo! Always leading me astray!

Was it Aragorn?

Seems like Aragorn would say something like that, cause it kinda refers to himself. Self-centered b_stard

Nope, not Aragorn, and not any member of the Fellowship. I will tell you that it was being said to Frodo.

Ok, if EG's guessing I'd better guess, too since I have to beat her

Is it Galadriel?
Elrond?
