I keep coming up against 'fäerie'. Is that right or wrong?

Yet little he gives that thy leaping sword
the life should drink of the leaguered Elves.
Are the grim Glamhoth then grown so few,
or the foes of Fäerie feeble-hearted,
that warlike Men have no work to do?
Shall the foes of Fäerie be friends of Men?
Betrayest thou thy troth whom we trusted of yore?

Bolded are incorrect.

Almost there!

'me' 'fires' ? Doesn't make any sense, but maybe one is right.

And since he's still using 'Fäerie', I'm going to guess it's from BoLT 2?

Nope, not from BoLT 2.

BoLT I? It must be one of the early ones, because 'Fäerie' gets dropped pretty quickly...

As for who said it...er...one of the kings of Númenor, probably, but I'm bad with them.

I'll guess HoME. It's all one book, right?
I seriously don't know my volumes one from another....

The quote is from when Beleg finds Turin running with the outlaws robbing and killing whoever they please, be it Orc, Elf, Man, or Dwarf.

If I'm right, or wrong, I forego my turn. I have actual work to do this afternoon and won't have time to post a new one. So whenever this one is solved, someone, anyone, just post the next one. Thanks...

I have plenty of time, so here's one:

I/_p_k_/n_t/_f/_h_/d_f_e_e_c_/b_t_e_n/_l_c_/a_d/_o_d/./_u_/o_h_r_/o_/t_e/
_o_s_/o_/H_d_r/_e_r/_h_m_e_v_s/_t_e_w_s_/,/a_d/_u_r/_m_n_/t_e_/./F_r/
_h_y/_s_/c_u_t_s_/,/a_d/_h_y/_i_t_n/_o/_o_d/_o_n_e_/,/h_l_i_g/_h_/L_r_s/_f/
_h_/W_s_/i_/a_e/./_u_/y_u/,/_t/_e_m_/,/w_l_/t_k_/c_u_s_l/_i_h/_o_r/_w_/
w_s_o_/o_/w_t_/y_u_/s_o_d/_n_y/;/_n_/y_u/_p_a_/h_u_h_i_y/./_n_/I/_a_/
t_/y_u/,/_g_r_a_n/_o_m_g_l/,/_h_t/_f/_o_/d_/s_/,/o_h_r/_h_l_/b_/y_u_/
d_o_/t_a_/o_e/_f/_h_/H_u_e_/o_/H_d_r/_n_/B_o_/m_g_t/_o_e/_o_.

DPR has a point - the texts do seem to run together badly. What do people think of dropping that requirement? Does it seem like too much?

'spake' is incorrect
'then' is incorrect
'ask' is incorrect
'Lores' is incorrect
'by' is incorrect
'that' is incorrect

Everything else is right! Great start.

I spoke not of the difference between black and/bold.
But others of the House of Hador bear themselves otherwise,/and Tuor among them.
For they /_s_/courtesy, and/they listen to cold counsel,/holding the Lords of the West in awe.
But you/,/_t/_e_m_/,/will take counsel with your own wisdom or with your sword only;
and you speak haughtily. And I say to you,/_g_r_a_n/Mormagil, that if you do so,
other shall be your doom than one of the Houses of Hador and Beor might/_o_e/_o_.

Boy - I'm glad we allowed this thread!

And also... that we decided it should be separate from the regular quote thread.
