I really, REALLY do not want to go to this music student orientation thing. :-/

Ah well. I'm sure it'll be a good time. From 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

Where I get to listen to people talk about how the music process works, and listen to Seniors talk about pitfalls of their early years ( ).

I would much rather sleep in really freakishly late, then spend the day doing homework.

I very -and I would like to emphasize the word very- very much dislike stupid people at a helpdesk.
When I go to someone for help, I would like for them to read the entire email thoroughly before sending a reply that makes no sense and has no relation whatsoever with the question you asked, so that you have to make a call with the helpdesk only to be told it is better to reply to the email and point out that the one who answered the %@#( thing didn't read carefully enough. And off course the email you get in reply to that one isn't very to the point either...
Okay, breath now Mari, breath! *takes a deep breath, calmes down just enough to stop speaking with swearwords and takes the phone to once again call the helpdesk...*

Yeah, I think helpdesk people all attend a course on "How NOT to Help the Person that has Contacted You"

Alcoholic brother-in-law has been binge-drinking with shorter intervals in between - months, then a month, then weeks, then 2 weeks, then every week ... and has now drank himself into the hospital We're looking for a rehab place that will take him. Alcoholism is just awful. The one good thing is that his wife (my husband's sister) is not trying to cover things up this time, and FINALLY his boss at work has stopped facilitating him, too - he's demanded that he go into rehab or he'll lose his job.

I think I may have to come out to at least one of my sisters.

Also apparently news has traveled all around the music department that I have a crush on this guy, and that he really likes me too. Did I mention that my -other- sister is in the art department... which is in the exact same building as the music department?

I think I may have set things into motion that I never really intended to...

Thank god for friends, or I would be out of my freaking mind right now.

I haven't been here in a while and it is past time for a vent....

Why is it some people can get away with something and if someone else does the excate same thing they get into a boatload of trouble? I hate it when managers play favorites!!!!

Over the past couple of weeks, one of the girls I work with has been super stressed, due to stalker ex boyfriend whose ass I really want to kick. Whose ass really needs kicking. Ok back on track. Well, the girl went to lunch on Labor Day and didn't come back. Monday, she came in, was jumped all over by the manager for something that manager's favorite does all the time told him she wasn't going to put up with that and walks off her job. Leaving no body to close. I ended up working 11 hours that day. I know that's not much compaired to some of you but my butt was dragging. I had to be at work at 10 the next day so my skinny butt was tired.

ok end of ranting vent

My two cents:

I think this place is the most normal place on the internet, or perhaps the world as it is, at least to me.

Why does the last mile of a 30 mile walk always seem to last longer than the rest of the hike?

I've seen a lot of "leet speak" or "1337 speak" online lately. I wonder who came up with leet speak...

Why do so many movies have "Return", "Revenge", etc, in their titles? Ever noticed that?

That's my little semi-rant rant.

Forgive me of my ignorance, but what in Middle earth is leet speak?

It's the tarnishing of language by using numbers and other stuff in place of real language, such as:

1337 = leet, or elite.

Leet talk = "Elite" talk that some people use on the internet, either to sound funny or to reduce the amount they type. It's not quite like saying lol for laughing out loud, it's more like this:

t3h d00r 15 5hut = the door is shut.

It's an esoteric form of internet language, sort of like the Language of Mordor. Few know it (fortunately).

"Leet" talk also eliminates the need for using correct, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and especially spelling. All sentences and even proper nouns begin with lowercase letters and punctuation is far and in between.

In effect, it's like torturing the English language. Apparently there is a leet speak for every language on Earth. "e" becomes "3", "t" becomes "+", etc.

I find leet talk to be a little annoying in a way actually. That's why I mentioned it in my rant.

Hey, a possible! That's a nice feeling.

I'd bet your sister will cope, if she hears it from you, and not someone in her life-drawing class, kwim?

I have a world of respect for your mother, and the apple doesn't usually fall that far from the tree.

Oy, that stings. It's a really hard step, I know. But it's also one that you will eventually have to take. You can't hide the truth from your family forever. They'll be able to handle it. Be strong!

Yes, stay strong, Tessar baby; you're really such an awesome guy, I've come to realise over the years just how very cool and strong you are - you'll do fine, just keep your head up, and never let the turkeys get you down. You are you, a very, very good and cool man, nobody may diminish that fact. Your parents will understand, if not immediately then eventually; surely they love you very much, no matter what your sexual identity is. I send you positive vibes and encouraging well-wishing thoughts, you'll be O.K. baby. You'll be O.K.

Thanks guys.

And now for my second, related, rant... apparently the place this guy is having his birthday is 21 and up. Yay. We thought it was 18 and up, but apparently it's 18 and up every day buy Friday and Saturday. Figures.

So I may or may not try to meet up with them at this dance place they're going to later. Frankly I wasn't that thrilled with the idea of the club anyways, even though it's supposed to be a 'nice and clean' one, but I agreed to be a designated driver.

I also don't want him to get his feelings hurt by my not showing up, so....

Oh, and I have allergy drainage that's making my throat hurt.
