A riddle:

When it begins it is a delight to the ear,
melodious, enchanting, enthralling and clear.
Yet to each it sounds different for those who are near.

Riddle:

Twelve and fifteen
Never to see
Swift-running stream
Or sweet-grass sea.

Dozen are paired;
Three are alone;
Three companions faired
Well; but two roam.

Who are the fifteen
That fought?
What are the twelve
That rise not?

Another year's gone by, and I was thinking once again,
How can I take this losing hand and somehow win?

Just give me One Good Year To get my feet back on the ground.
I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found
One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down.
I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year!

The 15 may possibly be Riders of Rohan who fell in the battle with Ugluk on the fringes of Fangorn.
The 12 are their horses.

The clue of sweet-grass sea led me to the answer.

To guess at a riddle
she will not dare.
Perhaps here is somthing
in which she may care......

Friend to men and without a spouse,
a greater son of a Golden House.

editors note: I also want to know where my resident ent expert is. Earniel, we need you again....

Here is a reposting of an unsolved riddle for this page:

When Middle Earth is under night,
there is a place where it is bright,
and folk can see to their delight
since they possess the liquid light.

here's a simple riddle for y'all...

‘Short‘-term gatekeepers for tower tall
who dangle as witness to power’s fall.

and another....

Unhidden Valley?

Woods there were and woods there be.
There also are woods to yet grow a tree.
Among these last are woods foreboded,
where nary a squirrel can go unnoted.

I've got my copy of Silmarillion loaned out to a guy at work, but does this have to do with the Glittering Caves of Menegroth? The Sindarin Elves of Thingol and Melian?

Right on LCoU! The Watchwood is the answer.

We still have two riddles up that have not been correctly answered:

1)
When Middle Earth is under night,
there is a place where it is bright,
and folk can see to their delight
since they possess the liquid light.

and

2)
‘Short‘-term gatekeepers for tower tall
who dangle as witness to power’s fall.
