All the book is great, but my favourite part is the story of Beren and Lúthien. *sigh* I also liked Ainulindale a lot.

The Mines of Moria had been a mere name; and of Lothlórien no word had reached my mortal ears till I came there. I like Fingolfin vs. Melkor, and when the Naugrim killed a (or the?) dragon

The Ainulindalë, because of the whole creation story, and that music, the command "Behold your Music!" and the wonder of the Valar, and the "gotcha" at the end of the chapter, that the vision was just that, and that upon entering Eä they had to labor to create what they had seen.

I might as well list every chapter! The book as a whole is my favorite part.

Upon first reading my favorite parts were Finrod's discovery and first meeting with men, Tears Unnumbered, the awakening of the elves, Fingolfin's battle with Morgoth, and Beleg's death... among other parts.
During my second reading The Flight of the Noldor had become another favorite. There are so many great moments in the book, I could not list them all, but there is something that I love and I never see anyone else mention: Quote:

Lúthien and Beren, I LOVED that part! I liked reading it after when knowing that Tolkien described himself, though he more resembled Bilbo, to be Beren, and his wife Lúthien.
I really liked the Ainulindalë as well. I liked the whole book! Even though I didn't understand alot of it. |

My favorite part? Chapters 1 through 24, the Ainulindale, Valaquenta, Akallabeth, Of The Rings Of Power And The Third Age. The Tables were good also, as were the Note on Pronunciation and Indices and Appendix. Oh gosh! How could I forget!! The Map... good also. Sheesh!! How could I forget the Forward and Preface... what was I thinking!!!
