I think it would be cool to be in a world like Star Trek too. On the Enterprise in N.G. That really isn't fantasey though, is it? I mean, it may someday be a reality. Ya think?

i used to like STNG but i began to hate it because it was SO sugar coated, SO self righteous, SO extremely left wing, SO post modernist, SO deconstructionist, SO polictally correct that i really began to detest the show. Occasionally they do ( in the movies) or did (in the TV show) what i thought was a good show. but now i find it nothing more that sad reflection of present day pooppy thought

Well, what I meant was just traveling the stars, on a cool ship, and meeting aliens. Having those cool rooms they live in, and even a holodeck. That way, I could be in space, and go to the holodeck and be in Middle-earth all at the same time. Sorta like fulfilling two fantasies at once.

That is a cool idea, 'Sister'. I have always thought the concept of a holodeck was so very neat. I doubt that the future will ever see something exactly like that, but who knows. It would be very cool to become a member of the fellowship and go along on the journey's without risking your life.

Have you gone to see LOTR yet?

No Haldir, not yet. I have never been fond of large crowds and long lines. I think I will wait til it dies down a bit.

So would I - preferably during the Golden Age, and perhaps living in the City of Cair Paravel (or even in the palace itself).

What about you, where and when?

Oh gosh, tie between Hyrule, Middle Earth, and somewhere in the magic world from HP. However, I'd like to live in my own fantasy world where all of those are combined

That would be strange...

I like this thread.

I'm opting for Prydain, from Lloyd Alexander. I was born to be in one of the Free Commots.

I already live in Hobbiton. It has some good qualities, but makes me too Tookish. I wouldn't want to be talked about as much as I am.

Next would be somewhere in the worlds described by Riddlemaster of Hed. Nowhere I needed ships too much, lol.

And third would be The Wind in The Willows.

I would like to live at the Cackle Academy for Young Witches from the Worst Witch series.
Or maybe in the Last House with Emmy.
Star Trek would be cool too. I can't decide between Voyager or the Enterprise though. I think I'd pick Voyager.

There aren't many places in LotR or Narnia that draw me.

That's a tough one, but I'm going to have to go with some sort of Star Wars or Star Trek kind of world because I am well aware that I CAN NOT LIVE WITHOUT MY MODERN CONVENIENCES.

Middle-Earth? Yes, I'm sure it's nice and all but WHAT DO THEY WIPE WITH? Probably leaves and crap like that (pun intended). Also, no refrigerators? No Air Conditioning? No thanks.

... okay, but all that aside, I like to imagine myself living in either the Wheel of Time world, or a kind of general D&D style world. I could imagine myself being a Cleric .

Indoors, with controlled weather, all the time. It would make me insane.

And I'll bet any amount of money those ships and space stations smell BAD.

To quote whatever that movie was about the guy who did the stuff, "Well that's an easy fix. Just put in a line like... 'thank God we invented the... whatever device and can smoke in space, now.'"

I wouldn't care if they were smoking in a diving helmet. Most people smell bad. Particularly, for some of them, when they're attempting to smell good.

One ensign with a bottle of Axe can ruin your whole week.

The Enterprise had an arboretreum or however you spell that. It was quite large.
Voyager has it's Aeroponics bay, though that one is smaller. I suppose the holodecks can make up for a lot (and it's not like I have a garden of my own to play with now anyway )

Numenor - specifically, Andúnië. I imagine Andúnië as a peaceful, summer-resort -like place filled with old-world grace and charm, right there on the Western sea. All the best of old pre-Pharazôn Numenorean culture would be culminated in its atmosphere, and the very best of Men - the Lords of Andúnië - live there, too.

As a second choice, i would have to pick none other than another Middle-Earth place - Annúminas - in Elendil's time. Why would i choose otherwise?

But since Numenor is not technically "Middle-Earth", i'd say i'm off the hook for making two relevant choices - but i think i know what you meant...

Wiping. With. Leaves.

I'm telling you guys, Middle-Earth is not all it's cracked (again pun intended) up to be.
