Yeah. Definitely You write eloquently and clearly in many posts. Highly deserved nomination! Which GreyMouser, Insidious and Eärniel do as well so one of you will have to get my final vote

I'm going to make a short-list with one nominee per Award so that it can count as my vote

We'll do a tally of the winners in December-ish/end of year so that everyone has the time to nominate their preferred candidate for each individual Award I can function as some default tally-counter until then but if anyone is very keen on being the Judge here I am glad to hand it to them!

Is it possible to post a poll for doing the votes?

I'm sure there is, but since people most likely will want to nominate more than one person for an Award it complicates things slightly. The best way would be:

1. Mooters nominate one or more candidates for each and every Award.
2. Then(/Or straight away) nominate only one candidate for each Award.
3. We count the number of votes each nominee has for each individual Award.

And if people want to vote anonymously they can PM me (f.ex.) and I'll take the tally of votes and post the results at the end of the year (f.ex.)

It's possible to nominate first, posting or by PM, to be finished by a set date. Then after that date you set up the poll with all the nominated candidates, and we then vote for one of them in each category. Remember to put 'none of the above' as an option in case some don't want to vote in all categories.

Ya know, I have a modification to suggest.

How about we use this thread to recognise everyone's achievements? Widen the scope a bit.

For example, I could nominate Mari for "Cheeriest in teacup". I could nominate the Empress for "Jumped in with both feet." I could nominate Link for being "so genuine all the time", and GW for "always ready to help, with monster or without."

Everyone here contributes uniquely...I'm not sure another election is the best way to celebrate that, know what I mean?

Okey that's a good idea.

The nomination deadline will then be November 15th. So everyone can post here on the thread or send a PM to me, Coffeehouse, by Nov. 15th.

On November 15th-16th I will post a poll with a list of the nominated candidates for each Award and everyone can vote.

We'll set the deadline for the final voting to December 15th where you choose which of the candidates that are nominated that you want to win the Awards. Then the results will be published by way of one Mooter-one vote in a poll or something

So, there's a deadline for nominating that is November 15th
And then there's a deadline for final voting that is December 15th.

And then we'll know the Posters of the Year 2008

And can we then suggest new categories as well?
A few, inspired by Sis:
Most helpful poster
Most cheerful poster
Most friendly poster
Most brave poster

... in the end giving us one category each?

On a Tolkien board I think there should also be a some category like 'most knowledgeable in Tolkien matters' or so.

Some good suggestions, so the final list will have 10 awards instead, which looks better than simply 8

The Best Response is chucked out the window because it will be hard to find two Mooters nominating the same response anyways

The final list is then:

1. Most Prolific Poster:

2. Most Eloquent Poster:

3. Least Modest Poster:

4. Most Modest Poster:

5. Happiest Poster:

6. Craziest Poster:

7. Weirdest Poster:

8. Bravest Poster:

9. Most Helpful Poster:

10. Tolkien-Wiz of the Year Poster:

Fire away with nominations people

Nooooooooooooooooooooo Lol okay there are two rules. And they're rules alright And they are:
1. You can't nominate yourself
2. And don't add new categories!! Let it be... please... I think the 10-Award list I post just now should work well. So any additional Poster-awards will be invalid

What does 'bravest poster' mean? Brave in what way?
I liked Sis' proposal though. There are so many people here that I admire, appreciate and/or like and they all deserve to be acknowledged, but not everything and everyone fits in these categories.
