Other group that you guys might want to check out is Loudness.
They are from Japan. BUT only focus on the '84-91' album. In my younger days Akira Takahasi was considered one of the best guitarist around. SUGGESTION download bearshare so you can search for the groups above and see if you like them or not. Good Luck. |

Ragnarok, im not going to bring Manson into this thread, but would you class NIN as industrial (as most people seem to like doing) because Reznor and talentless and crappy, should never be minced into a sentence

Aye I support Nightwish as well. As for other Finnish bands has anyone heard Alexei Laiho's (Children of Bodom lead and vocals) side band, Sinergy? It's got an amazing lineup with a female vocalist doing a lot of operatic and melodic stuff.

I have a recommendation for fans of progressive metal. Pain of Salvation is the name of the band and they are pretty good. I was able to get some of their songs off of kazaa lite.

I have a band for you guys to check out, they're pretty good. They're called Bog Master...my friends are in it...you can listen to some of their songs here Just click on one of the three songs on the right under the 'pure player'
They classify themselves as experimental metal. Last edited by FoolofaTook : 06-03-2004 at 06:30 PM. |

I am a huge fan of Metal, but the true definition of Metal, which is guitar dominated music. Metal was first applied to Steppenwolf's Born to be Wild, so Metal goes back to the late-60's.
Some of my favorites: Black Sabbath Led Zepplin Iron Maiden Metallica Megadeth Slayer Testament Sepultura Down Corrosion of Conformity

Melko don't forget Jethro Tull. First ever band to win a musical award in the heavy metal category. As for my 5 favorite singers here they are in no particular order . . . 1. Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy (not only a great death metal singer but also a hot chik) 2. Alexei Laiho from Children of Bodom (not sure of their classification but I'd say death/black/melodic-death) 3. Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden (best heavy metal band ever) 4. Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian (power metal) 5. Sean Staranka from Arcanum (hardcore)

I love Nightwish! I also love Metallica (old as well as post-Justice, but not really St. Anger) Blind Guardian AFI (they are probably technically hard-core punk... but there is a certain metal-ness to them) I also casually listen to... Iced Earth System of a Down Tool Within Temptation I really think I've left some people out here...

I spent the '80s playing lead-guitar for a band that played some metal ('80's style).
I like to listen to more industrial style now. Rammstein is a fav. I don't speak a lick of German, but I don't care, I love the musiK

Metal should be found in support beams--not in CD players!

It's no biggE, Nurv, I've played since I was Four (4), my family had me learn "On Top of Old Smokey" for my first song, lol. I studied with a few of the great greats (I refuse to name drop) in classical guitar in the late 80's and early 90's. I played with bands until around '96 (graduated college, yeah!) Now I'm into my own little studio setup (synths + acoustics + my decked out MAC) for cool clean sound. I love a good beat, lyrics that affect, and a melody that "goes somewhere". Come over and we'll record a song sometime titled "Bust a MST" or "MST on the Horizon" LOL

I don't think Pink Floyd could be considered Metal no matter how you slice it. However, Learning to Fly is one of my all time Favs!
