I think Angband was referred to as hell at one point and it's name is translated as iron prison or hell of iron in the index to Sil... So that's not so far off. I think FM was going for Utumno.

yep, i was referring to Udûn, that is the Sindarin word for Utumno. I know that somewhere it´s translated as "hell".
BTW, i think that Maeglin means also "son of the twilight", but i can be wrong. |
