I used to loooove D&D; I'd get together with like 7 or 8 of my freinds and we'd drink truckloads of beer (and sometimes mushroom tea) and go at it for like 16 hours at a stretch, and I'd always be the only girl - almost all my best friends in life have been the guys. Man, those were the days. If I lived in Seattle, I'd check out that Black Company game; I don't know anyone here in L.A. who's into D&D.

I really, really, really wanna try some PnP RPGing, but I don't know of any groups near where I live. I'm hoping that I can find some through the college, or something.

I'm a newbie to tabletop RPGs. I haven't played D&D yet, but we're playing D&D Oriental Adventures for our next campaign. Right now we're in the middle of a d20 Future/Modern game. Fun times.

I love tabletop RPGs! Don't worry Starr, you'll get the hang of it in no time.
I've only played Rifts for tabletop RPGs though, but I'd totally play D&D, which I think is similar.

Thanks for the link. I tried the first adventure and found it to be entertaining and challenging. (I did not survive the first time) It does require a little work to keep everything accurate, but it is worth the effort, imo. I played D&D in the 80s, but I found it to much work to get going and a bit time consuming. (I found the outside world to be more fun.) I always thought it was funny how there always seems to be tons of gold/jewels lying around your run of the mill dungeon.

Started out with D&D in 1982 or so... played solid for years and gave it up after a while. Did my stint with Battletech, Starfleet Battles, Shadowrun, CoC etc... now I play a variant of Dungeon Explorer. Excellent GM... I particularly like the flying galleons (captured Air elementals driving ships).

I'll see you early 80s and raise you a late 70s! I have fond memories of AD&D sessions from those days. You really need a good GM though, and being tight-fisted made us feel we'd earned it. IIRC, there was a scenario we did called "Of Braeland and Wold" (possibly taken from The Beholder magazine) which was set in the North Kingdom during the Third Age. It was pretty groovy. Anyone else come across that? |

Yes, fond memories of the late 70's / early 80's D&D... GM's made the game, and I liked that. I'm going over our adventures and and writing it up into a story since I am in possession of all the old stuff.
The mention of Starfleet Battles brings back fond memories of time spent playing that. I loved being an Orion Pirate!
