During Helms Deep, what did Theoden say could perhaps bring him joy again?

A foot massage and a nice cognac? No just playin'.
If he could lead his men out there in battle on the field, and "set a spear in rest".

At dusk, the night of the third day of Aragorn, Gimli & Legolas' pursuit of the orcs to find Merry & Pippin, what kind of moon (what phase) was it that evening?

Yes, and at the end of that passage it states the shape of that young moon - its phase. What shape/phase was it in?

It was pale and clear.

So does Spock go or do you want to post another question Lotesse since we didn't actually get the answer.

I've looked and looked, and it doesn't say that in my book. If you've posed the question from inferences, that is not permitted. If I've missed it, as others have, then please quote exactly where it does say that. Meanwhile we await input so we can move on.

Spock, Spock, Spock. How long have you known me around here, and you KNOW I never, never like or tolerate trivia questions based on inference. I'm almost as strict as YOU are about it! No, strike that - I am JUST as strict as you are about it.
So anyway, it is in The Riders of Rohan, the passage where it starts "At dusk they halted again. Now twice twelve leagues they had passed over the plains..." and at the end of the short passage - 'Truly! said Legolas. 'That I have known since first we came downfrom the Emyn Muil. For the will is not behind us but before us.' He pointed away over the land of Rohan into the darkling West under the sickle moon.
