This thread is technically about your favorite non-human race, and the Rohirrim are human. What would be your favorite non-human race? I'm partial to hobbits. But then I think at the beginning of the thread there was debate about if they (and elves)are considered part of the human race, so if they don't count, I'd say ents.

HA! Tolkien's works were written in a VERY Elf-centric world, and universe. The Elves were written as the greatest and noblest folk, the true DOERS of Middle-earth, and the greatest part of it's history.

Personally, I do like the Khazad as well, but the Eldar are the best, in Tolkien's world.

The Shepherds of the Trees. Fangorn is the oldest of them. Long ago, Yavanna created them as guardians for the kelvar; though they were actually in the Ainulindale, but not the Children of Iluvatar, much as the Great Eagles. When the Nauglamir was stolen by the Dwarven smiths (Belegost or Nogrod? Can't remember) I believe that they and the Laiquendi aided Beren in fighting the smiths and recovering the Nauglamir.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Some of it is, no doubt. But much of it is because, simply put, the Elves (Eldar especially) are simply the greatest race in Tolkien's world.

I dunno the Elves just seem like such noble, wise, brave, and beautiful creatures. I want the books really bad and for now have to settle for only the movies.

Why do you have to settle for the movies.

i dont have anything against people who havent read the books, but i do if they were to say that the movie ish better because ish not but ish very good anyway!
anway, i like hobbits, then the istari (esp. gandalf then radagast) then i realla like sauron because his eye ish sooo spoocial. and i likes gwaihir the eagle, and i likes shelob, last child of ungoliant (teehee she sooo spoocial too) and i likes gollum (but for me he goes under hobbits because he was a Stoor once which is ancester of hobbits and ish not his fault their had to be a precious! ) and i likes ulmo, he ish what i think of when i eva go to church (which is never even tho mah dad's the minister and sometimes im an atheist, but thats WAY off the subject) oh yah, i realla like dwarves too and ents, and i like gorbag and shagrat the mordor orcses...ummm...and i realla realla like the precious, er, the ring, because ish so small yet shoooo powerful...wow...oopsies, wrote lotsa lots...

I saw in your profile where you listed your favorite Tolkien book as being all of them.

If I remember correctly, Tolkien said in the Letters that if Smeagol hadn't such a mean thieving sort before he found the Ring, it wouldn't have affected him nearly so much.

Shouldn't be hard. They are at every library I've ever been at.

Aw, they're not hard to find, and if you can't afford them right now, try the library, they're usually pretty available, at least where I live. I know when you read them, you will fall in love.
