Long Lost Leaves

[Acalewia]

Aelfwine shook her head as she listened to the exchange between Abasi and Borin. She had heard stories of the long and deep rift between Dwarf and Elf and knew there would perhaps be some disagreements, so to speak, between the two.
"You may not be family," Aelfwine said, before the Dwarf could respond. "But you are considered a friend," She smiled at the Elf before taking her leave to check and ready her horse.

[The Sasquatch of Fangorn]

"Oh! Are we riding? Well in that case..." Borin whistled and out of the forest came a bounding warg."And as for that elf, I was just trying to freindly! If my brother was still alive and he was here, I'd hate to see what he'd do to you!"

[Curufin]

Abasi looked at the dwarf's warg with disgust.

'That's a hideous creature. Does it not scare the horses?'

He whistled gently, almost a musical sound, and a white horse - unsaddled and unbridled - came out of the forest. Abasi gracefully leapt onto its back, and bend over to whisper something in its ear as he smoothed its mane.

[Mari]

Ellysa was glad that Abasi had chosen to come along, but that feeling faded quickly when she thought of having to travel on a horse again.
Carnehillion was a good rider and she suspected he was being considerate of her when they rode, but she still didn't like it.

"You want 'hidious creature'?" said the dwarf, a little steemed, "Look at that great beast you got there! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, pointy ear!" he retorted while scraching his warg behind the ear. "Plus, we could out race you and yer fancy horse any day!"

[Curufin]

'I doubt that, but you may believe it if you wish,' he said condescendingly, his fingers stroking the mane of his horse. He saw no purpose in arguing with a dwarf. In his horse's mane had been plaited tiny crystals, that made the silver mane shine whenever the sun brushed against it, and in the full-light making it almost glow. It truly was an Elven horse, reacting to its rider more as friend than as a servant.

"You're askind fer an axe in yer face, ain't ya?" said the dwarf even more steemed. "You think that just because yer an elf yer better don't ya? You think 'Oh! Look at the funny little dwarf! Haha! He can't walk on snow!' don't ya?!"

[Curufin]

Abasi raised an eyebrow and looked at him condescendingly.

'Do contain such outbursts, child. They really are most unseemly. Resorting to threats of violence is a sign of weakness, you know.'

[Mari]

Ellysa listened to the bickering for a while, but got tired of it.
"Okay, that is enough you two! Abasi, I think everyone understands that you don't like him, but that doesn't mean you have to be rude when someone offers you friendship, so cut it out. Borin, he doesn't like you, deal with it."
Quickly Elyssa walked away embarrassed and a little surprised after her outburst.
She was hoping it would have some effect and that her words hadn't hurt anyone, for she hadn't intended to say anything at all.

"Aye." said Borin, a little sad at realizing that the truth was Abasi just didn't like him. "Aye, the lady's right. I shouldn't force my friendship on people who clearly don't want it." He mouted his warg "Ellysa, thaks fer clearing that up fer me!" ha said with a smile. "I would've guessed that he wouldn't learn ter love dwarves seeing as how he been in this here forest fer who-knows-how-long."

[Curufin]

Abasi half-rolled his eyes, feeling not the least bit of pity in his heart for the dwarf.

'Did you ever think that it was because I have had experience with Dwarves that I don't like them?'

His voice was nearly a snarl as he glared at him.

'I do not see why everyone thinks it necessary to become friends with everyone else. It is quite tiresome.'

The dwarf looked Abasi begrugingly "No" he said sarcasticly "Not at all!" He squeezed his warg on the side "I've thought up a name for him. Let me run it by you pointy-ear."

[Curufin]

Abasi sneered, running his fingers once again through the beaded mane of his white horse.

'Why should I care what you name your beast, dwarf? Especially if it is in that horrible grunting noise that passes for a language among your people.'

[The Sasquatch of Fangorn]

"I'm naming him: Sargh elf arglar." he said chuckiling "Want to know what it means?"

[Curufin]

Abasi sighed deeply, looking bored with the dwarf.

'Do I have a choice?' he said in a long suffering voice. 'I have a feeling that even if I tell you not that you shall tell me anyway, so I suggest you say it. I am sure it is something chosen to hit me right in the heart, so I shall grip my horse tightly so that I do not sway from the injury it will cause me.'

His voice was mocking as he raised an eyebrow at the dwarf.

"Disgusting elf butcher." he said looking at the elf with the same contempt. "I thought of you when I named him!"

[Curufin]

Abasi pressed a hand against his chest in mock agony.

'Oh, dear Gods, I have been insulted to the deep!'

He then looked at Borin with contempt.

'I know you are a child, Dwarf, but please, do try not to act like one continuously.'

[The Sasquatch of Fangorn]

"And you sound like a guy who's realy into puppies and rainbows." Borin retorted sarcasticly "Of course in all seriousness you look like and act like a guy who would wipe every smile off of every person.... and then eat a puppy. Honestly! You can drop the whole 'though forest man' routine. The gals ain't interested and the only thing you'll get from the guys is a sword, axe or dagger up yer rear and a fist in yer face."

[Curufin]

Abasi looked highly amused, suddenly, and let out a bark of a laugh.

'You think that I attempt to impress maidens with my behavior? You think that there are maidens present that I would wish to impress? You know not, dwarf, of ages past, when Elven Maidens populated these woods in numbers uncounted, filled with such sublime beauty that they would overpower the senses. Maidens of laughter and joy, and song like nightingales...'

His face darkened.

'But the Dark Lord - and I mean not he whom you called Sauron, but the Dark Lord that came before him and was cast into the Void by the Gods of the West - destroyed them all, or nearly all of them, before ever the Exiles set foot again in Middle-earth. But I speak of years beyond your comprehension, so I do not expect you to understand...'

Abasi trailed off, suddenly quiet.

"Excuse me?' asked the dwarf with a suprised look on his face. "Do you have any idea just who you are talking to?! I am Borin. Brother of Balin. Son of Fundin. And currently one of the oldest dwarves on record! I was there when king Dane was crowned! I wasn't just alive, I was THERE! I was to be the replacment of one of the dwarf-lords! Don't be telling me I'm young! Because I know that has elf lie written all over it!" Borin was insulted more than ever by the elf's insolence.
