Awartha made her slow way, to a small land, where the Old Forest bordered one side, and the Barrowdowns another. When she got the the place, she stepped into the magical wonderland. She could still feel the magic that she had cast on it, to make sure that it never changed. She stood staring at the waterfall, where she had first meet Fran, and silently cried. But she could not waste time in pity. She had to renew the spell before morning, and the magic wore off, and The Wise, as it had been called by her friend, would be just another part of the Barrowdowns.

Resta pulled his hood back up, but knew it was to late. She had felt his searching her mind.

She felt what seemed like searching fingers on her memories, she turned to Resta, "Why would you do that? I have not caused you to be suspiscious of me, and yet you do not trust, then it is true what they say about you isn't it?" She in turn caught a glimpse of his mind, being vindictive, and saw something that made her eyes merry. She laughed, "And to think, you two said you didn't have a relationship, and yet you asked her to marry you, why would this be ?" She saw him sputter, and flounder for an answer.

I am sorry my friend, it is something that I do to all. I have not meet one person who I did not search there mind. No, we never had a relationship, she's always hated me. One of the scars on my face, she gave me, the other from a friend of her's, Belladona. Yes, I did ask at one time, and she turned me down instantly.

Resta smiled. He knew it would be hard to do something that was in his very nature, but he would try. He agreed then reached up, touching the circlet, muttered something, and forgot what he had read about her, in his mind...except one thing...one thing which always stayed in the back of his mind, that he would never be able to forget.
