Ah yes, but Harry is just a kid - he hasn't fully grown into what he will become. By the way, I was under the impression that you hadn't read Harry Potter? Or have you just read the first one?

I've read a little of the first; wasn't my bowl of soup.

Soup is good if it comes with oyster crackers.

Anyway, read all of them. Reading OotP. GANDALF IS BEST!

I'm joining the Yea Gandalf camp, but I'm not joining the Bashing Harry Potter with Senseless Comments camp.

Anyway, one important reason I think Gandalf would win is that Harry sometimes takes foolish risks (ie. sneaking off to Hogsmeade when he knows someone is after him. The fact that that person turned out not to be evil is irrelevant.) Gandalf knows when risks are necessary (ie. the aforementioned Balrog battle.)

Further, Harry seems to rely entirely on magic. We know Gandalf can fight mideval style as well as use magic. His staff, bashed by Harry Potter supporters, is an excellent conventional weapon as well as a magical tool. You never know when that might come in handy.

Gandalf wouldn't have been in as much trouble as Harry was when Tom Riddle had his wand - Gandalf is also armed with a fantastic sword Glamdring. Better stick a dirk in your sock Harry. I'm surprised he hasn't done so already considering who's after him, must be against school rules.

Cheers, ...N...
