Finally, I have returned to the 21st century.

That massive windstorm caused damage like I've never seen before (dozens of trees uprooted, including one in our back yard that took out our gutter), took out power to the entire city of Madison for 52 hours (and there are still people in the country who aren't expected to have power back for weeks) and crippled our water supply.

But everything's back here now, thank God, and they've lifted the boil-water advisory and I can go take a shower soon (thank GOD).

So how has everyone been?

The ground got so satuated with Gustav that our neighbors tree fell. Luckily it was only our fence that took the damage.
With Ike, we had flash flooding and a tornado about 5 miles from where I live.

Which is a reason I'm considering moving to the Netherlands

Well, there's bound to be water in a country that's partially below sea-level. But then again, they take very good care of their levies and other structures. They're already budgetting what it is going to take to keep them dry if the sea-levels rise above today's levels, something I wish my policitians would take into account instead of pretending our old, desperate-in-need-of-upgrading little storm-walls are going to keep our feet dry forever.

I never said it was because they have no problem with water, at least they don't have hurracanes and tornados.

I have had two tornados hit very close to my house, so I have a very heathy fear of rotating winds

yeah, I hated living in tornado country. Fortunately, there are lots of places where they're very rare.

Hehe. I usually go to bed pretty early myself, since I have to wake up for class. I liked the idea of having a show in the middle of the night though.

That reminds me of English classes he-he.. When I lived abroad I remember liking this one because it reminded me of Norway
