"Out of the frying pan and into the fire", originally "escaping goblins to be caught by wargs". I wish I had seen it sooner, but I'm not checking the trivia so recently any more...

Who first told Beorn that the goblin King had been killed?

Yes, it is a trick...Gandalf told Beorn, which was confirmation that he was telling the truth. Beorn first heard it from a goblin and a warg, who both ended up nailed to his door.

wait though, wouldn't it be the goblin and warg which were confirmation that gandalf was telling the truth so gandalf did say it first and therefore i am correct? [catches breath]

But remember...Beorn took all of them out to show them the warg skin and the goblin head just after they told the story...I think.

No, in the story, the Goblin King's death isn't mentioned, so when Beorn finds out that not only were the travelers telling the truth, but that they'd killed the Goblin King, he immedietly felt worried for them and excited and ran back to check on them.

All right...whose noises, according to a character's quote, could "awaken a stone dragon"?
