I assumed there would be more than one raft, as fitting all of us on one huge raft seems a bit far-fetched (is the River that wide?)... if that made sense.

I guess I could have asked about this... I can edit my first raft post if anyone would like to change anything. I just made stuff up as I went.

If we're just fast-forwarding and not detailing much about talking to each other, I could just get Baru onto a raft and not specify which one. There are certainly more than one. Eärniel talked about 'rafts' in her post.

We can just go with the flow without specifying who is where and see who'll you end up with. I doubt we'd all fit on one raft anyway. We'd need full-blown boats then instead of rafts.

I'm thinking at least two to three large rafts for all the horses, a couple for gear and the Elves, and maybe five of us per raft or so? Sounds reasonable?

I suppose we'll end up fast-forwarding through some parts. We won't be playing all the days on the rafts out in full, we'd still be here next year.

Any possible way we can determine who is one what raft with whom? I'm cautious about writing about anybody and I think this will be information that is useful.

The way you described the rafts, Earn, isn't really how it's working out. Apparently, each member of our little group kept his or her (if any) horse WITH them as they boarded the rafts. So if you still have the couple for gear, and maybe four or five MEDIUM-sized rafts for people and horses with five/six-ish people on each...

The way I've seen it written so far, I only know who is on the raft that Aerin and Magor are on, because I just picked random people to be hanging out there... I added Aelfwine, Carnehillion, and Ellysa to the raft... Both Aelf and Red-whatever-we're-calling-him have a horse, and between them, Aerin and Magor have three. Then Nami got on the same raft as Ellysa with HER horse, so that raft has six people and six horses.

I could probably edit that post so that Ellysa is on a DIFFERENT raft (and therefore, so is Nami)? If that makes sense...

I'd appreciate a list format instead of "So-and-so is on the raft with So-and-so!" because that is confusing. Does anyone else have this problem?

Raft 1-
Aerin + horse
Magor +2 horses
Aelfwine + horse
Carnehillion +horse
Ellysa
Nami + horse

Does that make sense?

Well, I didn't want to decide for everyone on which raft they were, because I didn't want to control every single detail of the RPG. But if people still prefer to be told where they are and with whom, I'll be happy to provide a raft devision.

IMO, it'd make little sense to board with the horses along their riders on the same rafts. I can't think of anyone wanting to stay with their horses in stables all day long when other arrangements were available. Horses would need different forms of rafts, I think, sturdier and with railings to tie the reigns to. Humans could easily board other rafts. But I'll admit I am not in the least knowledgable about horses. Maybe Sane can help us out in that area, she knows most about them, I think.

If I re-read the story-posts, only one post explicitly mentions someone having his horse on the same raft. The others just say the horse was led on and that the owner took place also on the rafts, but unspecified if it was the same raft.

I suppose some of the rafts can in any case be tied close enough together, so that dialogue with people aboard the other rafts is possible.

I believe you're right about that.

I wrote "The Elf-maiden was standing next to it, staring towards the East." - which can easily be amended, having her stand there for a little while, and then move over to the non-horsey rafts.

In that case it's perhaps not necessary to know whether people are on the same raft or not.

Hm... Well... I was just wondering... I don't suppose it's that big of a deal. I wasn't really looking for raft assignments, just organization, so we kind of can figure out who is with whom. And we'll probably stop and switch around so it's not like it's that important.

About the horses, we could have them only with the humans for a short while... I don't know why, but perhaps a mile downstream, we're meeting the elves who have specially prepared the horses' rafts. Then we all don't have to go in and edit our posts. I don't mind editing. But that would be a super-huge edit for everyone who's got their horse with them.

Well, there are no glaring inconsistancies in what has been written, it can be interpreted either way, so I'd say let's just continue and imagine everyone got eventually where they were supposed to go.

But for the moment (and for clarity's sake), we have your characters with Aelfwine, Carnehillion, Ellysa and Nami on the same raft. And all the others should be on rafts close enough so your characters aren't limited to discussion within the raft-borders.

EDIT: I just realised I forgot all about the Ents. Would they fit on the rafts or prefer to go on foot on the river-bank?

That's the main thing. Not so much 'who is Baru with' as 'who can Baru talk to'.

I would suppose they would prefer to walk. They can do pretty long strides, can't they?

Another matter: What about our Telerin elves? Rinkë's and Aika's characters? What's happening to them (characters and authors ...)?
