Doraith, its sacking and Galadriel and Co.

I believe that Oropher , Thrandruil, Celeborn and Galadriel resided at Doriath. What did they do when Doraith was sacked? Were they even there? Where they valiant defenders who drove the Dwarves away?

About Eowyn,
Does anyone know what her alias Dernhelm means?

She was kown as dernhelm because of her exclaimation when she realized that the rider's headgear was heavy and obscured her sight.

'Dern Helm"

Oropher was there, it's not certain whether or not Thranduil had been born yet. I don't think anyone really knows what part they played, but I imagine it was valiant ones. Good hypothetical question. I wonder if they were involved in getting Nimloth and Elwing to safety. If they were involved in driving Dwarves away they evidently didn't do very well. Menegroth was, after all, completely destroyed.

The Doriath story being non canonical means it isn't as clearly constructed.

What he meant to say is: "It's petty messed up."

My money is on them being there and escaping.

Well if they were there they certainly escaped, or Oropher, Celeborn and Galadriel would never have made it beyond the First Age.

If I remember rightly than Galadriel reveals in The Lord of the Ring that she wandered over Ered Luin before the Fall of Doriath.

The fall of doriath in the Silmarillion is essentially an editorial contruction. That makes its structure problamatic.
