They're brilliant! Who's the baddest bad guy-Morgoth or Sauron?! Morgoth with Ungoliant and seven balrogs, or Sauron with a ring, as well as nine ringwaiths.

Morgoth alone, would kill sauron and those nine ringwraiths plus those seven balrogs. He would have been hard put to it at his lowest point, say just before he was defeated, but he would have still won.

In his prime he stood, against all the valar combined:

"Yet so great was the power of his uprising in ages forgotten he contended with Manwe and all the valar, and through long years in Arda held dominion over most of the lands of the earth."

I think in his prime you could through in Ungoliant, and he would kick her @$$ too!!!

I think in the quote, is one of the rear times that Tolkien has ever refered to middle-earth as simply earth.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

How about a cooking contest - gollum vs. sam? a nice fishes cooking competition?
depends on the judge - if it's sauron then of course gollum. if it's frodo then of course sam.
I think a neutral judge would be gandalf. he liked both gollum and frodo the same.
I think gollum would win because he's a minimalist and wouldn't put all the unnecessary and contransting stupid seasonings.

Boromir vs. Aragorn, minus Andruil. It would be a close call, but I really think that Boromir would win; trained in weaponry and all that, and Aragorn devoid of his precious elven sword.

I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found
One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down.
I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year!
